Kissing You Goodbye Lyrics
Cut yourself in conversation.
Cut a line to make me feel alive.
'Cause you know I'm not alive.
And leave me with your complications.
Take your life, you feel like taking mine.
And meeting God, we stand in line.
Not alone
Nowhere to go.
I'm not leaving. I'm not going.
I'm not kissing you goodbye.
On my own.
I'm nothing, just bleeding.
I'm not kissing you goodbye.
Trust to take the right to leave me.
Waiting under dark clouds for the rain.
Praying lightning strikes a change.
As history gets lost,
And as I took that final breathe I felt alive.
Meeting God to stand in line.
All alone
Nowhere to go.
I'm not leaving. I'm not going.
I'm not kissing you goodbye.
On my own.
I'm nothing, just bleeding.
I'm not kissing you goodbye.
Don't let me go.
Don't say goodbye.
'Cause you know that I'm not alive.
Don't let me go.
Don't say goodbye.
Don't let this love die.
Cut a line to make me feel alive.
'Cause you know I'm not alive.
And leave me with your complications.
Take your life, you feel like taking mine.
And meeting God, we stand in line.
I'm not leaving. I'm not going.
I'm not kissing you goodbye.
On my own.
I'm nothing, just bleeding.
I'm not kissing you goodbye.
Waiting under dark clouds for the rain.
Praying lightning strikes a change.
As history gets lost,
And as I took that final breathe I felt alive.

This son helped me through my late miscariage. He was 17 weeks when i went into labour and i ended up losing my son. Im unsure of the meaning Bert has intended, but to me personally, It seems to apply.
"Lose yourself in conversation. Cut a line to make me feel alive. 'Cause you know I'm not alive." These three lines to me, sound like my son talking to me, because my boyfriend and i cut his umbillical cord as if i had given birth to Jeremy living, despite the fact we knew he had passed hours before and we still were in shock, talking about him as if he were..
"And leave me with your complications. Take your life, you feel like taking mine. And meeting God, we stand in line." This just reminds me of well, the complications of the miscariage, and the feelings of losing a son. We were left with the knowledge that this was unfortuantely his time, and ours in inevitable.
"Not alone Nowhere to go. I'm not leaving. I'm not going. I'm not kissing you goodbye. On my own. I'm nothing, just bleeding. I'm not kissing you goodbye." I didnt go through this tragedy alone, and we didnt give up on our son until we had no other option but to accept his death. We didnt kiss him goodbye, in terms of us getting him cremated, and keeping him close to our hearts. Our love for him will never die.
Im sure by now, you kind of understand the attatchment i feel to this song and how it applies to me.. Parts of it sound like him talking to us, and others like our feelings. I dont really know what else to say here, so ill leave it at that.
Wow that's a very deep interpretation, sorry for your loss. You may know that Bert's partner killed herself and their baby and this may be why you can relate to it so closely. I hope you are well,

Well if the man in "Men are all the same" committed suicide, then I interpret this as the girl in that same relationship following his footsteps and committing suicide. Cause she doesn't want him to leave her behind.
Hence standing in line to meet God. Cause he's in front of her in the line?
Would also make sense as to why "Men are all the same" ends with lyrics from this song.
Well, this song is supposed to be built off of the Men Are All The Same song is what i believe. Men Are All The Same is about one person in the relationship committing suicide after becoming so depressed after leaving his loved one because he believed she was better off alone, and this song is about her following him into death because she loved him so much. That's my take anyway. you can believe whatever you want though ^^
this songs so different from what they've done, and yet it's amazing. the albums a lot softer from what they've done, but i don't mind it too much. this song's probably in my top 3 off the album
i thought the album is alot heavier and darker than what theyve done before, but this song is softer
agreed. the album definitely seems heavier to me than any of the older ones. every song is very intense, either in lyrics, instrumentals, or both.

I messed up on the lyrics but can't seem to figure out where he says at the part "you feel like taking mine" and then Its kind of hard for me to understand... But other than that, This song is rather lovely and its well different than most of the song on Artwork.
Lyrics are wrong. These are closer.

This song is about dying and going to heaven.
I think at first impression, this song is about someone committing suicide and leaving a lover behind, then as he realizes this, he won't kiss her goodbye, he will follow her steps.
But the last couple of verses make me think it's about a break up, where he feels like nothing without her and he won't give up the relationship. He realizes he needs to make changes in himself and he will do the best he can so their love won't die. Yes, I rather think that, but I'm an optimistic guy.
Or maybe there's hints about him committing suicide, and he wants her to join him.
Anyway it's a great soft song and somehow it fits the rest of the tracks.
I think dag_102's right about the "second" impression, if you listen to the rest of the album, bert sings about him changing to a better man, that he tries to change but his girl still thinks he's the same. Dunno which song, I'm too tired of looking it up, but still, I don't think it's about suicide all the way, just some kind of parallel of dying without her.

its about dying, possibly committing suicide, and leaving your lover behind
