Development Lyrics

it’s been a thousand years since I’ve been here I do believe
that I’ve played along for the last time
and they'd all come out and talk about you like you were dead
but I swear I saw you out there
oh just the other day outside the diner
and I saw you walking by
and the years go by and I’m still trying to understand
how you were living out there
you’re a ghost this town could build around you cause they’re moving forward
and you’re still underground
but if we could talk and we could laugh just for one last time
and turn the clock back around
those buildings that were built after you gone away
would all come crashing down
and I would laugh like we would laugh back before they came
and turn this city around

he’s gonna die
I feel his heart dying
he’s gonna live this time
but blackened from trying
and my eargerest moment
was waiting for him

my favorite. i think theres issues in the last verse, so if anyone can help me find what i did wrong, please tell me.

I think it may be:

he's gonna live this time but blackened from trying

I love this song too. She said it's about the disappearing wilderness where she grew up.

Not Valid

He's gonna die I feel his heart dyin' Well he's gonna live this time But blackened from trying And my Icarus moment Was waiting for him

this is one of my favorite songs on the album. i always thought it was about a person, but reading that it is about disappearing wilderness makes it even more extraordinary.

lyrics from the cd:

It's been a thousand years since I've been here I do believe that I've played along for the last time they would all come out and talk about you like you were dead, but I swear I saw you out there Just the other day inside the diner and I saw you walking by and the years go by and I'm still trying to understand how you weren't really out there you're a ghost this town could build around you

Because they're moving forward and you're still under ground but if we could talk and we could laugh for one last time, and turn the clock back round these buildings that were built after you'd gone away would all come crashing down and I would laugh like we would laugh back before they cam and turned this city around

he is going to die I feel his heart dying he is going to live this time blackened from trying and my eagerest moment was waiting for him
