The energy that transmite says so much, amazing It's so beautiful and peaceful, i'm in love with this.
It´s about a guy in a tall building that likes to be shaken for the same reason he likes turbulence in a flight.
Maybe it's about dude, who wants to go in a free flight from the roof of the skyscraper... And he just asks the building to help in a final step. As an optional.
I can't help but feel like this about 9/11...I mean he is a native and I know its 8 years late but idk I can't see it being about anything else. Of course Paul Banks does use free association so I could be wrong
When I listen to this song I imagine unanswered love...
the instrumentals are amazing and just the fact that the only lines sung are "shake me, shake me, skyscraper" make it more impactful and meaningful brilliant.
This is my favorite song on the album. It's really dark and creepy sounding towards the beginning, but then it develops a sense of awe, and when the lyrics come in it's just perfect. To me the song is the story of man's encounter with the city. It only seems appropriate that the story of the city, where there are so many ideas and words, should be told by a song with so few words.

nailed it, this song really gives lots o' urban imagery and really a sad, desperate feeling overall... ~Nick

i completely agree. this song is just so moving. i love it so much. it reminds me of "hands away". even if there are not many lyrics, the music just builds upon it's self and sends you into a different world.

Let's get over ourselves...it's about a dude with a boner.
