Lay 'Em Down Lyrics
Come down to the river,
Come and let yourself in
Make good on a promise
to never hurt again.
If you're lost and lonely
Broken down
Bring all of your troubles
and come lay 'em down
All you sinners
and the weak at heart
All you helpless
on the boulevards
Wherever you are now
Whatever evil you've found
Bring all of your troubles
and come lay 'em down
We're all tied to the same old failings
Finding shelter in things we know
We're all dirty like corrupted small towns
We'll bring our troubles
We'll bring our troubles
Come lay 'em down
All you rich men
and the high above
All of those with
and without love,
All you burdened
Broken down
All your troubles,
come lay 'em down
Come lay 'em down
Come lay 'em down
Come lay 'em down
[Come lay 'em down.]
Come all you broken
[Come lay 'em down.]
Come all you helpless
[Come lay 'em down.]
Bring all your burdens
[Come lay 'em down.]
Let's lay 'em down
[Come lay 'em down.]
Come all you broken
[Come lay 'em down.]
Come all you helpless
[Come lay 'em down.]
Bring all your troubles
[Come lay 'em down.]
Come lay 'em down
Come lay 'em down
Come lay 'em down
Come lay 'em down
Come and let yourself in
Make good on a promise
to never hurt again.
If you're lost and lonely
Broken down
Bring all of your troubles
and come lay 'em down
and the weak at heart
All you helpless

What I get from the song is he's saying that no matter what you've done in your past, no matter how you have sinned, if you lay down all your troubles before god and put all of your trust in him he will make sure everything you are taken care of.
I LOVE this song. I love the gospel style of it, and I love the lead singer's voice, it's so rich with emotion.
To me this song is about God's grace, and how no matter who we are, or what we've done, we can come to the river of living water and lay everything down.
Been hearing this on the radio, so happy for them. His voice is like buttah. Gravelly buttah.
[ugh, those little boxes instead of apostrophes are so freaking annoying... sorry guys. next time i won't put it through ms word first. :P]
as for this song, eh. needtobreathe, i love you guys, but this gospel feel just isn't my favorite! it took quite a long time for "washed by the water" to grow on me, and now it seems like you're taking that success and trying to push it even farther. which makes sense i guess. but i still don't like it!!
here's what i think about christian music: i hate listening to it! i mean, i'm a christian, but i know that the "christian" label on songs immediately turns off so many people who might otherwise be big fans of a band's sound! i think christian bands - correction: bands with christian members - should keep their overall positive, but not necessarily blatantly christian, messages and try to bring that to society at large -- have you heard today's rap music??? these people need help!! songs like "shine on" were great because i could read into it whatever i wanted about God, but other people could see whatever they wanted to as well and still benefit from a great, uplifting song. "signature of divine (yahweh)" on the other hand...
well those are just my thoughts. of course i'll keep listening regardless of whatever they decide to put out on this new album. can't wait!!
woohoo! nevermind, i figured out how to fix the box thing!

Cloudy_eye- Im sorry that you hate Christian music but still somehow find yourself listening to it. I have a feeling that the reason Christian bands don't choose to go mainstream with their music is because to them, its more about getting their message out versus making a profit. Makes sense.

There's definitely a difference between Christian bands and bands with Christian members. Bands with Christian members may have their beliefs, but might not share them to people if not asked. A Christian bands' sole purpose is to tell the gospel, no matter what form. And that is our purpose on earth isn't it? To preach the gospel and save as many people as we can? Why try and find some Christian music that's not singing or praising God? We need to be proactive and get out our comfort zone. Otherwise, what's the point?

A Christian, whether he's in a "Christian band" or if he's just a Christian in a band, has the duty, as all Christians do, to preach the gospel. I know that bands with blatantly Christ-centred lyrics tend to get shut up in the "Christian music" box, but just singing "positive" lyrics isn't going to win souls for Christ. You can't separate Christ from morality. Having said that, I'm a huge NTB fan, and I thank God for the way He has worked in them.

I think it is about how one day all our troubles will be gone.
And that we can lay are troubles at jesus feet. And he will provide for us.
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
-All you rich men And the high above All of those with And without love All you burdened And broken down Bring all of your troubles Come lay 'em down-
At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way! Matthew 11: 25-26
Could it really be so simple, just put your burden down? We want to make this complicated, we want to explain this scientifically. But its so easy, because He did the hard part. -Bring all your burdens (Come lay 'em down) Just lay 'em down-
