My Door Is Always Open Lyrics
I will only, let you down.
I will only, let you down.
But my door, is always open.
Yeah my door, is always open.
Well i don't think, that i ever loved you.
But the world is dieing to meet you.
Oh black birds they sing off the mountains.
Joyeous love songs that drift through the houses.
But now i'm free,
Now i'm free,
Now i'm free from all your pain.
Oh well church bells, they are ringing for you.
Oh and choirs are singing in red,
oh your voice could summon the angels,
and your beauty, could waken the dead.
But now i'm free,
Now i'm free,
Now i'm free from all your pain.
Well you have only let me down
you have only, let me down
but my door is always open
yeah my door is always open.
Yeah i love with my heart and i hold it in my hands,
but you know, my hearts not yours. X4
I will only, let you down.
But my door, is always open.
Yeah my door, is always open.
But the world is dieing to meet you.
Oh black birds they sing off the mountains.
Joyeous love songs that drift through the houses.
Now i'm free,
Now i'm free from all your pain.
Oh and choirs are singing in red,
oh your voice could summon the angels,
and your beauty, could waken the dead.
Now i'm free,
Now i'm free from all your pain.
you have only, let me down
but my door is always open
yeah my door is always open.
but you know, my hearts not yours. X4

I think that this is one of the most beautiful songs ever.
In my view, it is about trying to forget someone and deny your love for them because they have hurt you in some way.
Now I'm free Now I'm free Now I'm free from all your pain
You have only let me down
I think that these lines really display the ending of a relationship, and it makes it seem like they are okay, but most likely they are hiding their pain. They try to play it off like they are glad that it is over so that they don't have to hurt anymore. Although, they are in even more pain now.
This song is the sweetest, yet most depressing end of a relationship. It's so sad when two people love eachother but have to decide its inevitably not going to work. I hate/love this song.

I think you've got it basically. I think it's
I'm the dust I'm the dirt I'm the flowers in the earth Time to leave oh
I'm the dust I'm the dirt I'm the flowers in the earth Time to leave oh
Time to leave "on my own" or "I'm alone" is the last bit!
Time to leave "on my own" or "I'm alone" is the last bit!
It took me an hour to realize he sings ‘I love world’ in the end.

I'm the dust I'm the dirt I'm the flowers In the earth I'm the leaves I love world
I'm the dust I'm the dirt I'm the flowers In the earth I'm the leaves I love world
@winabagel I'm the dust, I'm the dirt, I'm the flowers in the Earth, I'm the leaves, but I'm not yours.
@winabagel I'm the dust, I'm the dirt, I'm the flowers in the Earth, I'm the leaves, but I'm not yours.
I'd say the overlapped lyrics are
I'm the dust, I'm the dirt, I'm the flower in the earth, I'm the leaves, I'm the world
But that's just what I hear
Recent events had me playing this song and I was legitimately surprised to find everyone here thought it was about the end of a relationship. I always thought it was about suicide.
I've known people who were suicidal, I've known people who tried to commit suicide. Even if "my door was always open" I felt like I never did enough. I didn't make it clear enough, I tried to give them too much space. I've even worried that I didn't truly love them, because I let them be in so much pain. That's what "I don't think that I ever loved you," means to me.
And after people are gone, how "the world is dying to meet you," brings to mind all the times I heard people say "I wish I'd gotten to know them better.", " I wish I'd been there for them." or even "I wish I'd gotten the chance to meet them." People never appreciate what is there until it's gone.
This verse jumps out at me especially:
Oh well church bells, they are ringing for you. Oh and choirs are singing in red, Oh your voice could summon the angels, And your beauty, could waken the dead.
The imagery surrounding death here. The church bells ringing for them, the RED in the choirs. It's irony, that their voice could summon angels and their beauty could waken the dead, when they're dead themselves.
And the part about being free from their pain, many people think that by coming to others with their burdens they are holding them down, bringing pain into their life. The singer is commenting on how they're free from that burden now, but then it's quickly followed with "you have only let me down." Showing that they would rather have the pain than what they are left with. Then they lament that their door was always open. That they could have come to them but didn't. They justify this with the repeated last line.
Yeah I love with my heart and I hold it in my hands, But you know, my hearts not yours.
In the end all we can do is be there for someone. Our hearts aren't their's, and our love for them, no matter how strong, isn't necessarily present in their own hearts. Sometimes people can't recognize how great the are, how loved they are, how much people want to help them. In the end, even if the singer should have done more for their friend, it wasn't them who made the decision to end that persons life. They were helpless.
I couldn't find these lyrics anywhere, so i'm expecting these to be slightly wrong, but if you have any corrections- please let me know and i will change them! x
I will only let you down I will only, let you down but my door is always open Yeah, my door is always open
I will only let you down I will only, let you down but my door is always open Yeah, my door is always open

The ending lyrics sound like yeah i love with my heart and i hold with my hands but you know my hearts not yours.
definitely one of the greatest heartbreak albums. Love this song.
For everyone wondering what he sings in the very end when voices overlap, here is my version:
I'm the dust I'm the dirt I'm the flowers in the earth I'm the leaves I love world
It's most easily recognized on this version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keDH-DzT70w I couldn't find these lyrics anywhere on the net so I thought I should share my interpretation.
