Mornings Lyrics
mornings go best with the sunrise
the sunrise i used to see
i'll never see now
and if i was waiting
we'd build it all up
we'd look all around till we found
we found
the people found the mountain
climbed up from that hole in the ground
through that crack in the sky
threatened to fall
still, i don't believe, i don't believe
we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine
the future was born with the sunrise
the sunrise spilled into days
and even more years passed
he rode further
burning up trails
we looked all around till we found
we found
the people found the mountain
climbed up from that hole in the ground
through that crack in the sky
threatened to fall
still, i don't believe, i don't believe
we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine
the sun, it rose
up from the belly of sea
found its bedding up in those clouds
it hung for years
still, i don't believe
while colors rained
and poured from the cotton-bound pools in the drips
those drips stained us all
still, i don't believe
the people found the mountain
climbed up from that hole in the ground
through that crack in the sky
i don't believe
i don't believe
the people found the mountain
climbed up from that hole in the ground
through the crack in the sky
i don't believe, i don't believe
and we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine
i don't believe
no, i don't believe
no, i don't believe
the sunrise i used to see
i'll never see now
and if i was waiting
we'd build it all up
we'd look all around till we found
we found
climbed up from that hole in the ground
through that crack in the sky
threatened to fall
still, i don't believe, i don't believe
we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine
the sunrise spilled into days

burning up trails
we looked all around till we found
we found
climbed up from that hole in the ground
through that crack in the sky
threatened to fall
still, i don't believe, i don't believe
we'll be just fine
we'll be just fine
up from the belly of sea
found its bedding up in those clouds

through that crack in the sky
i don't believe
i don't believe
the people found the mountain
climbed up from that hole in the ground

no, i don't believe
no, i don't believe

I think if it is a religious reference, it makes more sense to me to interpret it more as "not believing" in creation/religion, at least not organized religion :
"the sun, it rose up from the belly of sea found its bedding up in those clouds it hung for years still, i don't believe while colors rained and poured from the cotton-bound pools in the drips those drips stained us all still, i don't believe"
I get big a "the world is awesome" vibe from this song, and the "still, I don't believe" parts make it seem like it's saying that even though there are these magnificent things in the world, but he doesn't necessarily think it was the work of a god in the traditional sense. Specifically that maybe he thinks the idea of creation makes sense but he doesn't quite buy into it.
But that's just my interpretation; it could go a lot of different ways depending on your perspective.
i highly doubt that in this day and age a group of intelligent human beings capable of making such a beautiful song would base it on such an IMPROBABLE theory like creation. i agree with river pigeon
beautiful
im not saying it is, but is this about religion?
"the world is awesome" sounds like a pretty good description of the usual sound of the psychedelic rock sub genre
I don't think anyone here is far off the idea, but in my personal opinion we are missing out on one of the most important lyrics of the song when interpreting it. The lyric " threatened to fall" after the building up with lyrics saying people found the mountain, after climbing out of a hole in the ground and through the cracks in the sky, meaning humanity, as a whole, didn't come this far, learn so much, for it all to end because of things like pollution, environmental and social issues in general, the stuff tearing humanity apart. I don't believe, I don't believe, we'll be just fine, but only if we can learn to appreciate all the beauty. The instrumentals of the song even seem to build in a way that reminds me of watching the sunrise, each little moment, the colors, the light flowing over the landscape. This song is about that beauty, all the beauty in our lives and in this world brought to our doorsteps each morning! If we can care for each other and our planet, I don't believe we will fall either! Great band, great sound, it's not just the lyrics or just the music, it's the entire piece of art work here that takes you on a journey. Beautiful song
i think this is going against the views of those who dont believe in Creation.
