Blow Your Nose Lyrics
The earth moves and the sun keeps still
Bathwater tides come in
A bird hits the window pane
With a joyless sound
That echoes round and round
In your belly swim the spores
We picked off the forest floors
And if you must cry with grief
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Dreams push out reality
Sand kisses fingertips
Ghosts sing behind your ear
For the one you loved, who's never coming back
In the bathtub swim the spores
We picked off the forest floors
And if you must cry with grief
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Bathwater tides come in
A bird hits the window pane
With a joyless sound
That echoes round and round
We picked off the forest floors
And if you must cry with grief
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Sand kisses fingertips
Ghosts sing behind your ear
For the one you loved, who's never coming back
We picked off the forest floors
And if you must cry with grief
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Blow your nose right on my sleeve
Blow your nose right on my sleeve

This song tells me a story. Maybe of someone who has just lost somebody dear to them. And they're observing the little things that we tend to fail to notice when we get so caught up in everyday life. Things like bathwater, or how sand feels. And I can imagine this person going into a forest to escape. I know I run to nature when things become overwhelming. And that would explain the spores and forest floors.
It's a beautiful song about mourning lost love, but receiving love from someone who obviously cares.
