Left Out Lyrics

Huddled in the corner, disillusioned
My lifeless stare is fixed on your silhouettes
You're disregarding me, passing me by
Like I'm not even here
Maybe I'm not
Maybe I'm somewhere else

I used to be one of you
with the same spark in my eyes
And now I don't belong to this place
It's a matter of merciless time
I wholly vanish

The candle guttered out
The beauty elapsed
Could've been so wonderful

One day we could've met
and believed we might live that way
Far away from the din
Envious looks and chase for the prize
We would have remained ourselves
without killing our feelings slowly day by day

One day we could've won
without taking away someone else's pride
We would have become strong
Walking through our life side by side
We could've missed another day
Not knowing how to talk, where to go
We could've missed another night
Only, for what?

The dream went away
and you came with your dark hair loose
Ruthless cold reality
Oh, how I hate your truth
Don't turn your back this time
Just look at my eyes
I won't break down
I'm going to fight

A man who has been through a major traumatic event, whether emotional or physical, has had the joy of life drained of him and now is being forced to deal with an encounter with a loved one.

The first verse describes his current state; "Huddled in the corner", not wanting to draw any attention to himself. It works, people keep on passing him by.

The second verse shows that things have not always been this way. He used to be happy, he had that spark in his eyes. Now, after what have transpired he no longer feels a part of humanity.

He keeps going about how things could've been better. If only...

At the end he steps out of his dream, facing reality, promising himself to change things around. I get the sense that he's not actually saying these words, rather screams them in his thought. He's still the same.

This is a song I've been relating to very strongly these past year...

My Interpretation

One of the best songs ever recorded. Riverside you, by far, are the most under rated band in the progressive genre. Left out. Knowing you have what it takes to make an impact - the ability of making the person who believed in you whole. The dream went away. I know I'm worth more...

Progressive musicianship - the buildup of this song is unmatched. Damn it's a shame the world lost Piotr.

Left out is Riverside
