Country Lyrics

Baby I don't know
what I think of us
Won't be here tomorrow
I get so mixed up

It's a shame that we're not living in the country
A place that I once seen before
In a book you've always loved, but never showed me
You know I never lost before

Baby I don't mind
Where I'm going to
Love that asks for nothing
Love that we never knew

In the days when we were living in the city
It seemed that we were talking more
I can never love you like the way you love me
And these are things I can't ignore
You know I never lost before

We give it up to a world that was never true
It was always me and you

Baby I can tell
It's not coming back
Won't be here tomorrow
I know we'll be fine with that

In the days when we were living we were happy
The thing that we were waiting for
From a book you've always loved but never showed me
These are things I can't ignore
You know I never lost before
You know I never wanted it more

You and I were two of a kind
I hate to say it, but we'll never relate
You and I were two of a kind, you made me smile....

Cover art for Country lyrics by Pete Yorn

Just beautifully composed...the hook is addictive. Pete is truly hitting his stride as a songwriter- and the time in Omaha is showing on the composition and construction of recordings. Caught him three nights ago live- and he and his band are just SOLID! if you can see him live- you'd better hurry. don't think he'll be on these smaller, more intimate settings tour next year.
