Truth Be Known Lyrics
Saw your friend
working in this hotel
Says he used to know you when
And your dreams
Lucky as they seemed
They all
turned their back on him
Truth be known
Truth be known
Way I feel tonight
Living in
this back street town
'Bout my dreams
They all seem to fade
As soon as
I put my money down
Truth be known
When the fire
that once was your friend
Burns your fingers to the bone
And your song
meets a sudden end
Echoing
through right and wrong
Truth be known
Truth be known
working in this hotel
Says he used to know you when
And your dreams
Lucky as they seemed
They all
turned their back on him
Truth be known
Way I feel tonight
Living in
this back street town
'Bout my dreams
They all seem to fade
As soon as
I put my money down
Truth be known
that once was your friend
Burns your fingers to the bone
And your song
meets a sudden end
Echoing
through right and wrong
Truth be known
Truth be known

This song has such and amazing sound that it leaves me transfixed every time I hear it, but the words are so mysterious. I'd love to know who he's talking about... the words seem so specific I can't help but wonder if it's written about a person in NY's life, maybe Crosby or Stills or Geffen or maybe even Corbain. No clue.
I agree with you - the song leaves me transfixed as well. I am an avid NY fan and may be biased but this song puts all his critics on "mute"... Whinny voice, old man, whatever you want to say about him - it's songs like this that make me a fan FOREVER!!!
