Talk Like That Lyrics
Talk like that
Well I don't know where you're from
But oh how it takes me back
When you talk some
When you're moving around
You can lose sight of your past
It's way back beyond the last town
And you're moving too fast
Well I can hear my father
And his Oklahoma drawl
I hear my grandmother
Oh I can hear them all
And oh when you talk like that
I know where I'm from
And oh how it takes me back
When you talk some
And if anyone asks me
I don't have a home
And it's more than likely
I'll always be on my own
But oh when you talk like that
I know where I'm from
And og how it takes me back
When you talk some
Lord how it takes me back
When you talk some
Well I don't know where you're from
But oh how it takes me back
When you talk some
You can lose sight of your past
It's way back beyond the last town
And you're moving too fast
And his Oklahoma drawl
I hear my grandmother
Oh I can hear them all
I know where I'm from
And oh how it takes me back
When you talk some
I don't have a home
And it's more than likely
I'll always be on my own
But oh when you talk like that
I know where I'm from
And og how it takes me back
When you talk some
When you talk some

I can't believe nobody has commented on any kelly willis songs yet! I think this is my favorite of hers. Her vocals on it are amazing. The song is about being lost in the big world, and hearing a voice, maybe an accent, that reminds you of Home.
Love this song so much. Yes, it touches on that thing of how if you're a Southerner and you hear a Southern accent in an unexpected place it just brings you right back home.
Kelly credits Ricky Skaggs' southern accent with inspiring this song. Kelly was homesick, on tour, when she heard Skaggs at a press conference. The experience reminded her of her of her youth and Oklahoma family, especially her grandmother. She wrote the song in 2 hrs in her hotel room after hearing Skaggs.
