brown town was always a slang reference (at least in southern cali) for being under the influence of heroin. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the meaning. but i doubt Johnny Craig is a junkie.

Umm, jonny craig has nothing to do with this song. Since he is no longer in the band, it was more of an influence of a friend of kurt's. Just like alex english but brown town is a slang term for heroin users.
