A guy and a girl are having relationship problems. The girl is sick of it all and she goes off to a party where she's the "center of attention" to get away from everything. She meets a guy there and he tries to get with her. Angry at her boyfriend for whatever reason, she goes along with it and cheats as she has done so before (not necessarily with the same boyfriend). "Before she knows it she's back in a place she knows all too well/ Without thinking of her boyfriend she thinks to herself"

Actually that's pretty much spot on with what I thought the song was about - makes sense to me!
I fully agree with heytheredollface. That's how I was able to interpret the song. It's pretty straight forward once you read through the lyrics, 'cause there's nothing that seems too cryptic or figurative for someone to understand.
I really do agree with you guys. I think that this song is amazing and I'm going friends with a guy who goes through the same thing and I think it sucks to know that the girl is still trying to stay with him when he's hurting and she's out being happy with "Other People"....
