Even So Lyrics
I have taken like a thief
Just to buy my relief,
But even so, even so,
Grace divine.
I have murdered your sweet trust,
But now I'm burning in my lust,
But even so, even so,
You are mine.
I have drank from her cup,
I have filled my body up,
But even so, even so,
I feel fine.
I have mocked your sweet grace,
I have slapped you in your face,
But even so, even so,
You are mine.
I have fallen, weak and lame,
I have cursed your holy name,
But even so, even so,
I know my lines.
But you whisper deep inside,
And I scream back from where I hide,
That even so, even so,
You are mine.
Even so, even so,
You are mine.
Just to buy my relief,
But even so, even so,
Grace divine.
But now I'm burning in my lust,
But even so, even so,
You are mine.
I have filled my body up,
But even so, even so,
I feel fine.
I have slapped you in your face,
But even so, even so,
You are mine.
I have cursed your holy name,
But even so, even so,
I know my lines.
And I scream back from where I hide,
That even so, even so,
You are mine.
You are mine.

This song is my epitaph. Hopefully. In a nutshell, it's about the futility of fighting with God. Also, it chronicles my (somewhat) ongoing battle with painkillers. I sometimes contemplate changing the line "I have slapped You, in your face" to "I have put You, in your place." but I think I like the cringe-worthiness of the original line. I am the only Christian in this band. The rest of them are all going to roast in hell. Especially Troy.
