Let Your Love Grow Tall Lyrics
I'll follow you and you'll follow me
My fabrics mystery
I'll wave your loyalty in the freezing
Breeze so desperately
And another one comes down
And another one comes down
He bows all slyly and gentle-like
He's never had the right
I've never lived without
His sad and jealous eyes
And another one comes down
And another one comes down
Let your love grow tall
Let your love grow tall
Or the dunes on the shore?
Like the buildings in the city?
And your children on the floor?
Quiet minds don't know their worth
They know what to do
So I'll pray for them and I'll pray for you
Till my face turns blue
And another one comes down
And another one comes down
Let your love grow tall
Let your love grow tall
Or the dunes on the shore?
Like the buildings in the city?
And your children on the floor?
Like my frightened worried eyes?
Or the roots in the soil?
Are skies telling lies?
These lyrics are beautiful!
this song is seriously amazing.
it flows so beautifully and the lyrics are the icing on the cake.
Well it's pretty clear that the singer has a different meaning about something than other people.
Perhaps he is in doubt about something according to relationships.. He thinks he is jealous and isn't able to love or just isn't in love. And other people are like: Don't worry, love will come! Just be patient, you will start to have those feelings once :) "Let your love grow tall!"
But he doesn't agree, he thinks they are stupid "I'll pray for them" .. Though I'm not sure at all. Great song anyway.
Rather than "They know now what to do", I think it's "They know not what to do", which makes more sense in context:
It's the thought that counts No, quiet minds don't know their worth They know not what to do So I'll pray for them And I'll pray for you 'til my face turns blue
Definitely agree that its a real gem of a song
I think its about organised religion and how following a structured belief system can be frustrating. It sounds like he is criticising those who preach because it sounds good but their words dont have real meaning. Thats why there are so many questions in the chorus, he's questioning what it all truly means.
I think this is also the case in the verse that begins "Its the thought that counts". This verse praises those who have the best intentions in life, but for whatever reason may not live them out properly. While some religions condemn these people as sinful, this song says that its what you meant and felt that counts throughout life that matters in the end. He also says that he'll pray for people til hes blue meaning that just because he isnt very religious, doesnt mean he doesnt care very deeply, which is what matters in the end.
He wants to follow his own beliefs and feelings, rather than an organised religion, a nod to this i feel is in the 1st line "In pastures blue and green/I'll follow you and you'll follow me". It reminds me of bible stories about being led into green pastures but finding your own way there.
probably read way too much into this
