You're In My Eyes [Discosong] Lyrics
And visible when you look into a clear blue sky
Memories of days gone by
Activated by a mirror ball shining bright
In a provincial disco on a Thursday night
Identical in every detail to the way you were before
The best part of a decade since you went out of my life
The worst part of a decade, but here you are tonight
By my side
Just like before you went away
You're in my arms, I feel your warmth
And I will dance until the dawn
'Cause I don't want to lose you again, oh no
Yeah, I don't want to lose you again, oh no
A waking dream, an impossible situation
Oh, but you look real good in your halter-top, don't stop
Don't disappear
I need you here
I need you here
Just like before you went away
You're in my arms, I feel your warmth
And I will dance until the dawn
'Cause I don't want to lose you again, oh no
No, I don't want to lose you again, oh no
In my eyes
In my eyes
Just like before you went away
You're in my arms, I feel your warmth
And I will dance until the dawn
'Cause I don't want to lose you again, oh no
Yeah, I don't want to lose you again, oh no
Yeah, I don't want to lose you again, oh no
Happily ever after...
The song recalls a lost love of his past. At a disco in his older years a late night song from his youth brings back a sudden flashback to a past love. Dancing right beside him he sees a vision of the beautiful woman he loved & lost so many years ago. The flashback is so vivid and he can see her in such clarity she looks identical to the person he knew a decade ago. He marvels at the amount of time that has passed & acknowledges he lost a part of himself when she left. He knows this is only a vivid memory brought on by the song and he wishes it would never end, as in this moment he is reliving that love in every possible detail. He feels as though the past 10 years have not happened & as though she had merely left his side for a brief moment before returning. He realises she had never truly left his side as he had been carrying around the memory of her for this past decade. He also realises one day this perfect memory of her will fade completely in to a hazy mess of assorted memories from his life, but that is not right now. Right now in this moment he can remember her clearer than ever & if they keep dancing they can stay together in this perfect moment forever. He doesn’t want to ever lose the memory of her again.
