This is life in this world
Some things go right, some things go wrong
This is how the world can be
People just wanna be free
Yeah

The verdict came in and it said I was guilty
I looked at the judge, "Hey, America built me"
Tried to get rich, but they label me filthy
Only God can judge me, touch me, feel me

My friend calls me at nine o'clock
Says, "Get the car, it's time to rock"
Never heard him speak this way (way, way)

Let's go man

I grab the keys and hit the road
It's all a flash, but who would know
How this story would unfold
Don't charge me for the crime

Wrong place, wrong time
Don't charge me for the crime
Wrong place, wrong time
Don't charge me for the crime

My friend gets in the car with bags
Filled to the top with loads of cash
(See this paper right here?) And throws the pistol on the dash
(Yeah, it's time to get money now)

Says, "I'm sorry for the crime
That I've involved you in this time
You're the only friend I've got"
So don't charge me for the crime

Wrong place, wrong time
Don't charge me for the crime
Wrong place, wrong time, uh
Don't charge me for the crime

I start to freak and scream so loud
Just like the females in the crowd
That's when he gets in my head

(Come on man, we gotta do this)

You could live just like a king
With everything you'd ever need
All the dreams of every man
Don't charge me for the crime

Wrong place, wrong time, uh, yeah
Don't charge me for the crime
Wrong place, wrong time, you know, uh
Don't charge me

Sirens sound and my heart was poundin'
I looked at my man as the cops surround 'em
A teen on the scene with no objective
The American dream can be so deceptive

Now I see the flashing lights
There goes my future and my life
Now I've gotta do what's right

(Oh, man, they've got us, they've got us)

I stop the car and throw the keys
Out of the window, sets me free
I throw the pistol in the back

(Ah, ah, ah)

Throw him out of the car, I say
You know me well, I'm not goin' to jail
I'm not paying your bail
Believe me when I say
They won't charge me for the crime

Wrong place, wrong time (yeah)
Don't charge me for the crime
Wrong place, wrong time
Won't charge me, yeah
Wrong place
Wrong time, ha, ha
Wrong place, uh, ah
Wrong time

Won't charge me for the (crime)

I like this one, it's different from some of their other stuff & pretty self explanitory with the whole story going on. I like how Common's talking in the background at some points.

When I first heard this song, I thought it was kinda weird. It's very different from any of their other songs and I wasn't sure that I liked it. After I listened to it a couple times and heard the lyrics more, I was able to make more sense of the song and I actually liked it a lot then. I think it made the song better by bringing Common in to sing/talk during the song. The meaning is pretty self-explanatory and iadore music pretty much has it covered.

I remember watching their web cast and saying that the song is about two of your friends kind of being in a conflict together and you're in the middle of it because they're bringing you into it but you don't want to be involved.

I really like how Common was in this song because I love him too.

I'm not a JB fan but I don't even care, this song is badass. It's pretty self-explanatory but I really like how the story plays out throughout the song and there's just this nice rolling guitar in the background...it's really mature for them. I like it.

I normally like the Jonas Brothers, but this song is not their best. That's probably because I hate rap, but still, it's just kinda weird. I guess the story's pretty cool, but, I mean, come on, a rapper? Oh well, there's still plenty of other great Jonas Brother songs out there for me to listen to.

    My Opinion

Hmm, I'm not sure if I liked this song or not. I felt like the Jo Bros were kind of going backwards, and it was a bit tr-hard.

That's 100% my opinion though, and I have total respect for people who like the song.

I like this song. It tells a good story. I listened to it because Common was on it. Idk why, but it makes me laugh a little.

I really like this song. It shows that they have a lot more range than the cute pop hits they've put out. Adding common was a nice touch, him rapping and talking on the track

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, Zevon's longtime backers Waddy Wachtel and Jorge Calderon, and Linda Rondstadt/Stone Poneys guitarist Kenny Edwards.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
