He Said He Had a Story

I agree, the silver circle sign is definitely the dime. But I think the "he" in "he said he had a story" is the dear hunter's father telling him about how he met Ms Terri. This cd seems to bring back up the father a lot.

Theres so many typos here, heres the actual lyrics:

This song is sung by the Father, not the Dear Hunter, recalling his experiences with a whore at the dime. "What was your name?" Well, in all likelihood, it was a mystery, or rather, a Ms. Terri. ;-) Given The Dear Hunter's past, this gives him the proper motive to want to kill him, in addition to stealing his sons identity, to enter a new beautiful life. This song is about the boy and probably a few other soldiers and this one man tell's them all about a story he had where he went to a brothel and everything that the man says reminds the boy of his past or things he's seen or heard. "silver circle sign" the boys been to the dime he would recognize this. Maybe the boy recognizes the words used by the woman the man does the dirty with and recognizes them as words his mother (Ms. Terri) would use. Then I'm assuming that at some point in the boy's childhood the question of his father came up which I think is actually the subject of one of the songs in Act I so maybe Ms. Terri told the boy the father's name when he was a boy so the boy hearing all these things that sound so familiar he puts them all together and asks the man his name.

Just what comes to mind when I hear this song. So the boy now knows this man is his father and he definitely doesn't like him.

i think this is about Portly's experience with Ms.Leading because the song "This Beautiful Life" after is about The Boy, discovering such offensive things, and how he couldn't confront Portly, because every soldier had pride in him. The song is how he wants to go back to the home above the lake

definately the Dime The guy who saved the boy's life is talking about Ms. Leading

It sounds to me like the Dear Hunter re-telling his story to the person who saved him. The person is inquiring about the story and the Dear Hunter is lying about it, saying that he wasn't naive, that she was the fragile one, and that he was there to just have his way with her and then leave.

We know that it is actually the other way around. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!!
