The Man Who Lost His Soul Lyrics

Growing up I found a life that I knew overshadowed by the anger and the clutch of abuse
Shelves and books fell and dropped to the floor
I put an end to an era and I started a war

When I carried out the worst of my plans I was the only one surviving a miserable man now
And all my life taken over slowly
Reveal my hands
And see what I've become
And all so wrong
To leave your love behind me
And I gained the world and lost my soul is there no one to save me?

When I conquered no one came to my side
When I lost the lottery? and I burned what I thought was mine
In the interest I found what I lost
Nothing left inside of me and I cursed at the thought

I sat alone and put my head in my hands
And what I thought was a solution was a horrible plan
All my life taken over slowly
Reveal my hands
And see what I've become
And all so wrong
To leave your love behind me
I gained the world and lost my soul is there no one to save me?

And all my life is taken over slowly
Reveal my hands and see what I've become
And all so wrong
So leave your love behind me
I gained the world and lost my soul is there no one to save me?

Maybe this is too obvious of a meaning, but it sounds like Until June are making a political statement here. Easy to say about who (G.W. Junior).

Another thought is that it's the band talking about their own journey toward success in the music industry, achieving some of that success (though I still think they're largely undiscovered as a great band), but losing some of what was originally important to them in the process. And on that note, this song seems pretty different from their original style of songs, but I like it!
