Let The Right One In Lyrics

It`s not the knife you bleed on.
It`s not the cancer in your bones.
It`s not the sunrise choking.
It`s not the blood red moon alone.
It`s not the way you look dead.
It`s not the silent season.
It`s not the suffer intense.
It`s not the life you feed on.

(It`s the way the night falls into feeling grey)

Empire, I was built around your heart.
(Hey!, Hey!)
Let the right one in.

It`s not the ghost you kill with.
It`s not the yellow eyes you crush.
It`s not your failing senses.
It`s not the barrel of this gun.

(It`s the way the night falls into feeling grey)

Empire, I was built around your heart.
(Hey!, Hey!)
Let the right one in.

Let the right one in.

Empire.... let the right one in.

(It`s the way the night falls into feeling grey)

Empire, I was built around your heart.
(Hey!, Hey!)
Let the right one in.

i want to say this is a reference to that swedish vampire film, "Let the Right One In", just because of all the vampire references. but then i have no idea what the "empire" part is about.

anyway, i feel like this song is about allowing someone to relate to you and letting them become close to you. when two people meet, it doesn't matter what kind of life a they've lived and what kind of things they've done as long because in the end they feel things the same way.

This song is definitely about the movie of the same name (as well as the American remake "Let Me In"), like you and others have stated.

As for the part about the "empire", I believe it's a metaphor for the defenses Eli/Abby set up for herself early in her relationship with Oscar/Owen. When they first met in the courtyard, she told Oscar/Owen that they couldn't be friends and that's just how it was going to be. On their second meeting, she tells him that she wants to be left alone and orders him to leave immediately after seeing...

The song and the movie are both amazing. This one gets stuck in my head, and that's okay. =)

This song, at least musically, I think pays homage to the Conviction pop-track, "Teen Age Queen". If you listen to both tracks, they both start very fast paced with a very memorable power riff. Then, towards the middle/end, it slows down, and both songs end with their own memorable riff. So yeah.

Lyrically, these songs couldn't be any more contrasting. Teenage Queen depicts someone feeling special for just one night, and this is a love song (More or less)
