The Never-Ending Why Lyrics
The atom will implode
The fragile kingdom fall
The tremor becomes a quake
There's a body in the lake
And as the two of us rebel
Damn you all to hell
I wonder if that's all there is
Time will help you through
But it doesn't have the time
To give you all the answers to the never-ending why
The sound of silence grows
As spiders kissing fly
And the tumor becomes a rhyme
But the kids are doing fine
And as the two of us rebel
And damn you all to hell
I wonder if that's all there is
Time will help you through
But it doesn't have the time
To give you all the answers to the never-ending why
I'm unsure about your "As spiders kissing fly"...
but the next line "And the tumor becomes a rhyme" ..should be: "And the tumor becomes malign" which ties in with the theme of the rest of the song. Brian sings about the worst outcomes in his given scenarios.. -an imploding atom -the downfall of a kingdom -a tremor becoming an earthquake -a body found in a lake.. and etc.
I'm not sure but think it's got to do with the maybe accepting the inevitable, instead of searching for answers that don't exist or can't be explained - i.e. the never-ending why. In the chorus I feel he's telling us that time, an infinite continuum independent to us, isn't on our side, and also perhaps it isn't ours for the taking.
I have now looked at the album booklet and it says "as the spiders kiss is laid" the tumor becomes malign and so on if you are unsure I can help out,by the way the first comment pretty much explains the meaning thanks vC8H10N4O2 rated+
On Monday 14th December in the Glasgow SECC, Brian introduced this song as a 'Buddist Song' while clasping his hands. yes I cried at that gig. but this must mean it has something to do with Buddist views on death etc? just supplying some evidence!
This song is very philosophical in dealing with the question of the never-ending why. The message is clearly communicated in the song that you can't seach all your life for all the answers because there's simply not the time for it. No matter what happens to you in life (good or bad) you should not lose yourself in asking yourself all the time why it happened. Time will heal the wounds, but it will never be able to give you an answer to that question. So you should better move on.
yeah, sounds like "As spiders kissing lay"
for me, it feels like when you've lost someone and you're grieving you can't ever really have closure cos there's no answer for it, that's just life and you've gotta accept it and get n with things, but then you ask yourself why that is and so on
questions about life can't be answered
yeah...i love placebo (Y)
Could it be "As the spiders kisses flame" or something like that?
it's definitely 'kisses' and not 'kissing'.
the xylophone (?) in 0.55 is so pretty!
and i don't hear 'flame', more like 'lay' or 'leg'.
AS SPIDERS KISSES LAY, I think I still have my sense of hearing... Oh, you're right.

yeah, that could be right. :)

after blasting this song numerous time on my ipod i think it's
"the fragile kingdom fold"
and "as the spider's kiss is laid"
great song
At first I had thought it was something like "as the spiders kisses lie," but now I agree with you - "as the spider's kiss is laid" fits perfectly.

Yeah, it is "as the spider's kiss is laid"... When Brian sings it live, you can clearly hear the 'd' at the end.
