Armour Love Lyrics
You PULL on your Armour
AND put up defences
Why do you want to?
Because I'm here to protect you
So take it easy
I'll make it so easy
You can lay your head down
And we'll leave it til tomorrow
You seem to believe you belong to somebody else
When you leave me alone in this world
You know that I'm in hell
When you know what it's like
To be lonely and by yourself
When your life is tangled
You wear your disguises
But why do you need to
When I'm standing here beside you?
You can lay your head down
And we'll leave it til tomorrow
You seem to believe you belong to somebody else
When you leave me alone in this world
You know that I'm in hell
When you know what it's like
To be lonely and by yourself
Slipping through my fingers
AND INTO another's
Tell me why won't you turn back?
You seem to believe you belong to somebody else
(You know what it's like you shouldn't have to be told)
When you leave me alone in this world
You know that I'm in hell
(It's hard enough when you're alone in the world)
When you know what it's like
To be lonely and by yourself

I don't think this is so much about a lover leaving her, but more, she's met someone who's already in a relationship. I think this guy is probably a bit confused and lost and not the happiest person himself. Although it may not be satisfying or he may not feel that strongly for his girlfriend, the relationship is stable and comforting. So when he meets her (the singer of the song) he puts up his defences even though he has feelings for her, because he's scared of the unknown, scared of leaving his girlfriend for something more uncertain. He does it because he's scared of being hurt, but she knows she'll protect him and she wants him to realise it too. She's unhappy and feels alone in the world, and he knows it, yet he still goes back to the security of his current relationship, believing that that's where he should be, and leaving her alone. He's confused (life is tangled) so he tries to hide himself, hide his feelings, put on an act, and she wonders why, because she knows she'll always be there for him. She tries to show this to him, but still he goes back to the security of his current relationship. And maybe for a second he thinks about being with her, but then he goes back to his current relationship, not ready to take a chance.
So basically, it's about someone trying to get another person to take a chance and have faith in them, but the person never will.
Armour Love has been on repeat on my i pod for a while, just so lyrically interesting and beautiful like the rest of the album. This song for me tells of a girl whose with a guy who doesn't really know what he wants out of their relationship. Maybe a bit scared of commitment? He thought that a relationship with this girl was what he wanted, but now doesn't know if it's quite for him, so he 'puts up defenses', as he's not quite sure what to do. Maybe he's had he's heartbroken before, and wants out before he has the opportunity to have his heartbroken again, or is just worried about settling for someone less then who is best suited to him- 'You seem to believe you belong to somebody else'. 'Slipping through my fingers, and into anothers'. And so he bailed, and the girl is left annoyed and really sad that he just couldn't see that he couldn't have just given her a chance. She tried afterall. Pretty self explanitory.
I think this song is about, either somone dying and belonging to somone else and that somone else is 'god', Or its about a lover leaving them, and she still loves him/her.
To me this is definitely about someone scared of letting go and committing to someone else, for whatever reason.
This is a straightforward break-up song. The stuff about putting up defences etc. are comments about the ex-lover's behaviour.
Okay, how I took this song, is a girl wants her boyfriend back but he doesnt want her anymore and she would take him back in a second, but he doesnt want her anymore and he wants to move on and be with anyone but her. I took it that way because thats what happened to me. I broke up with my boyfriend, and then realized I wanted him back but he didnt want me anymore, and always put up his guard and wanted ANY girl and I mean ANY but me.
