This. song. is. amazing. i love the: "I'll always miss you and I'll always wish you'd been mine." Fantastic. The "I'll toast to mistakes made on purpose" is pretty great also.
Those are my favorite lines as well. It's such a beautiful song! One of my favorites on the album! The song to me is about wishing "you had been mine" and that although it's pointless to wish now, you can still dream.
I love this song, and it'll probably always have a special place in my heart. I agree with ClarinetDreamer on the meaning- even though it's completely pointless and it's not ever going to happen, part of her still wishes that he had been hers. but being a dreamer, she still has that little ounce of hope.
