Cool, I cant believe ill be the first to comment on this sweet song. I like live and the studio version, but i digress. To me, this song is about ordering take out ;) Or diving for muffs, or whatever innuendo you can think of.Sour as my fingers/Dirty pick pocket/I can still taste you/I won't wash my hands or Let me drink you, Let me go down. All prime of examples of Dave's apparent hunger for that great light.

i think i cracked the code, or at least discovered my own interpretation of this song.. and what an amazing, seductive song it is..

well.. i wonder if since the song is in general about wanting to go down on a girl, if he is talking about number 7 on the list of zones.. number 7 on her list is the same area he wants to visit in this song..

i agree with jody this song is so hot it is insane. kudos to dave for saying what so many men are afraid to say but what is so true.

Yes, this is a very sexual song, but it's more than just about the act of sex. Just read these lyrics:

"Woman please I be your possession You are my obsession Let me go down Down, down, down, down, down, down, down"

The man is begging to go down on her! The song's main theme is about the sexual power a woman can have over a man (ie: because we men typically think with the wrong "head"). Just my thoughts...

First of all...I love this song because it gets right to it and the beat just pumps you up. I feel so sexy and in power when I pull up somewhere and have the song blast and you here Dave "BABY, WHEN I THINK ABOUT YOU...." AHH its incredible...

Anyways, my interpretation of the song is this...How Dave is obsessed with his girl. How she has a spell over him and when he thinks about her al he wants to do is take her for a ride. He wants her to be with him all the time. He is talking about how his mom told him that hey this girl is going to have you wrapped around her finger and he didn't know until now. Its so sexy to me that Dave sings the emotion that we think and feel but maybe are too ashamed or shy to admit. He is so in love and shows that very clearly. This song is a great reason of why I am in love with Dave's writing and expression.

I love "Red is the color of the sun with my eyes closed." It so simplistic yet true. Close your eyes and look up to the sun and you know what he is talking about. He is such a dreamer. LOVE IT

I think the meaning of the song is fairly straightforward. As for the title, I think it being called "Seven" may be just a lazy (albeit slick) title in reference to the majority of the song being play in 7/8 time. Off the top of my head, Dreaming Tree is the only other Dave song I can think of that is play exclusively (or almost exclusively) in 7/8 time.

Dave's of course well known for taking this simplistic approach to song titles before (#34, #40, #41, That Song that Jane Likes, etc...)

When I first heard this song the first thing that got my attention was the sassy melody at the beginning. Then after listening more I was taken away with the lyrics and shook my head at what I was hearing. Next thing I knew I was biting my lip.....

Oh yeah and I think the song is called Seven because that's how many minutes it takes him to 'get the job done down town' lol Notice he sings down consecutively 7 times. & also sings "you" consecutively 7 times
