Underdog Lyrics

Kill me if you dare
Hold my head up everywhere
Keep myself right on this train

I'm the Underdog
Live my life on a lullaby
Keep myself riding on this train
Keep myself riding on this train

Love in technicolour, sprayed out on walls
Well I've been pounding at the pavement
'Til there's nothing at all
I got my cloak and dagger
In a bar room brawl
See the local loves a fighter
Loves a winner to fall

Feels like I'm lost in a moment
I'm always losing to win
Can't get away from the moment
Seems like it's time to begin

Kill me if you dare
Hold my head up everywhere
Keep myself right on this train

I'm the Underdog
Live my life on a lullaby
Keep myself riding on this train
Keep myself riding on this train

It don't matter
I won't do what you say
You've got the money and the power
I won't go your way
And I can't take for the people
They don't matter at all
And I'll be waiting in the shadows
'Til the day that you fall

Feels like I'm lost in a moment
And I'm always losing to win
Can't get away from the moment
Seems like it's time to begin

Kill me if you dare,
Hold my head up everywhere
Keep myself right on this train

I'm the Underdog,
Live my life on a lullaby
Keep myself riding on this train

Tell me if you're down
Throw your weapons to the ground
Keep myself riding on this train

Hey bud your on the wire
Sold yourself for another one
Keep myself riding on this train
Keep myself riding on this train

I think the song's about the band. After the second album everyone expected them to fade away like the rest. But look at them now!

"Kill me if you dare, hold my head up everywhere" - they're saying they're not scared to do sumthing different even if we don't like it, they're proud of it.

"It don't matter, I won't do what you say, you've got the money and the power, I won't go your way" - they won't listen to record companies or anyone who'll tell them they'll make more money doing it differently, they make ther music the way they want to.

It is "paper on the wire, sold yourself for another one" - basically they're not going to sell out. It's not about the money or publicity, it's about the music.

"I'm the underdog, live my life on a lullaby, keep myself riding on this train" - in terms of the music industry, when this song was written they were very much underdogs. Their lives depend on the music they put out (a lullaby), they're trying to keep themselves on the journey that is being part of kasabian (riding on this train).

REALLY, like that verse, but this song as a whole is as good as any they've done before, Well done lads!

Kasabian's Underdog is a great song for us to relate to. If somehow you're not a genius, you're always at the wrong end of a competition, Kasabian gives you a lil' tips on how to turn the tables. And shows what a great feeling to do so, too!

But it isn't a plain simple thing to do."Kill me if you dare, Hold my head up everywhere, Keep myself right on this train" means you shouldn't be too afraid to lose, and give all you got instead. The great thing in

It don't matter I won't do what you say You've got the money and the power I won't go your way And I can't take for the people They don't matter at all And I'll be waiting in the shadows 'Til the day that you fall

is you won't give in no matter what those 'champs' throw at you. you'll swallow a bucket of insults if you have to. You'll fight not for the sake of yourself, but all the people that stood behind and support you all along. And waiting in the shadows is not a sucker punch, it's the place you're now at the eyes of those 'champs'. They don't even bother to acknowledge your existence.

All and all, really is a great song. Juan Martin del Potro must've listen to this song a lot in 2009 US Open .

My Opinion

Man, I'm the first one to comment on this crazy tune!

I fuckin love this song, it's like... stunnin. no clue what it's about, I haven't thought about the lyrics.

I just can't wait for the new album to come out.

Ok, it seems that the song is about drug addiction. It doesn't matter what's going on around him, it's all about "riding on the train". He lives his life on a lullaby. He's lost in the moment, and can't get away from it.

Yep, I love this song too. Havn't thought about what it means but it rocks, plain and simple...

it's about a way of life as an "underdog". the man in the song is very lonely, mainly because he doesnt care about people and does what he wants and everyone thinks he won't get far that way and he gets far and keeps living "riding on this train" in the underdog way.

My Interpretation

Isn't it "Hey bird, on the wire." Not "Hey bud, you're on the wire.

It is "Paper on the wire."

C'mon, folks... the song is about paparazzi!

Papparazzi? Explain how? The band have told how each song relates to a member of the "West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum."

I like it! The chorus really taps that feeling of being pushed beyond your means. Keep myself riding on this train, anyone who's been short on options and up against a wall knows what it feels like to fight for survival, that in short is what I hear in this song. Good beat and lyrics that don't beat you over the head are the icing on a tasty song. Cheers!
