Tree Village Lyrics

What excuses do you make? Happiness is hard to find.
I didn't catch a break. Maybe I am dying inside? February,
been so lonely. It's been so long since I felt your touch,
and I couldn't care less if I deserve this.
I will never survive the sting inflicted.
Sever all ties. Follow procedure. Pledge abstinence.
Fuck at your leisure. Breathe in then out, but not out then in.
Cause over function. Restart again.
I need to see my dreams as I close my eyes.
Remembering nothing and begging for light.
All the trees, all the birds, and this thing called life.
I'd stake it all for forty acres and a trophy wife.
Dust gathers on the books that contain our past,
and we're but peons in a circuit built by time to last.
Repeat, repeat, as we've done before. Our history all lost in war.
When the last of our cities are but powder and dust,
the damned who remain live with God in the glory of us.
February, been so lonely. It's been so long, since I felt you.
I could care less if I deserve this. I won't survive the sting inflicted
Repeat, repeat, as we've done before. Our history all lost in war.
Repeat, repeat, as we've done before. Our history all lost in war.
Repeat, repeat.
Repeat, repeat.
Repeat, repeat.
Repeat, repeat.

let's see what i'm getting from this...

"what excuses do you make? happiness is hard to find" means that people keep make excuses for what happiness is nowadays, they say money makes them happy, or cars or women, but really they're not happy. just satisfied. "i didn't catch a break...maybe i am dying inside?" realized that they're not happy, and then they get sad...and just keep falling into depression, and they think they're dying inside because nothing satisfies them anymore. "february, been so lonely, it's been so long since i felt your touch" maybe a line kurt decided to add cuz he misses someone? or whoever writes the songs. "and i could care less, if i deserve this" don't care if he deserves it, he wants it. "i will never survive, the sting inflicted" we won't survive in the world without discipline. belts sting like hell!

"sever the ties, follow procedure" business before family. "pledge abstinence, fuck at your leisure" hyprocrisy. say you won't have sex till you're married, tell others they're wrong for having sex in their teens, then screwing around with your boyfriend/girlfriend later. "breathe in then out, but not out then in" not sure...hmm...think before you say anything? or else you might reevaluate and see you're wrong when it's too late. "cause over function, restart again" favorite line. everyone chooses to fight for a cause, but don't know it's worth in the world, they just know it's for something. we gotta think again.

"i need to see my dreams, as i open my eyes" being reborn, as in once you open you're eyes, you see that your dreams and hopes are really nothing. "remembering nothing, and begging for light" you can't remember what it's like to be happy, and you beg to be shown the way. religion maybe.

"all the trees, all the birds, and this thing called life, i'd stake it all for forty acres and a trophy wife" we'd trade what's naturally beautiful for something man made that we consider "in" "dust gathers on the books that contain our past, and we're but peons in a circuit built by time to last" we don't read our history, and we keep repeating ourselves, all the mistakes, because we don't look back. "repeat repeat, as we've done before, our history all lost in war" we're doomed to repeat ourselves because war destroys whatever we know to be true, so we only think it's true. "when the last of our cities are but powder and dust, the damned who remain will live with God and the glory of us" God, our greatest creation, or our great creator, will remain even after our cities are gone, because we will leave memories and myths with those who didn't deserve to move on.

pretty depressing song, lol. idk, it seems like what i'm going through right now. i grew up christian, but i can't seem to find any proof that there is a heaven or hell, or even a God. it's difficult, becuase right now i'm going through a depression, and everyone tells me to look to God because he helps all. and i really can't. geez, these guys are great. i love them.

btw, this is just my interpretation, you can make it your own or change it, i really don't mind, lol. also, why is it called "Treee Village"? why was mine rejected? it had the right lyrics and everything. right spelling too, lol.

I think its about how messed up our world is.

First Verse:Basically talks about how everyone is the destorying the morals/lives of people by living focused on money, material possesions, sex. He sees this and cant stand to watch and because of this his life is slowy getting fucked up. He's one of the few people that realize this and is disgusted in how they live their lives and fells lonely. He probably had a girlfriend or just a friend that shared his ideas and they left him alone, either by leaving his life though a fight, moving, ect. or changed over to the population of fucked up morals people (I fail at thinking of a name for the stupid people in the world)

Second Verse: "sever the ties, follow procedure" Don't follow the ideas of most people , (Sarcasm) Follow everyone "pledge abstinence, fuck at your leisure" The ways most people are today. When your young you say your not gonna have sex till after your married (Christians) but down the road we know that most teens have sex before they get out of highschool "breathe in then out, but not out then in" Slow Down and think "cause over function, restart again"

Show the world what we are doing to ourselves and when you are called crazy and laughed at try again....hopefully it will work eventually

Third Verse: "i need to see my dreams, as i open my eyes" "remembering nothing, and begging for light"

We need to always remember what we are fighting for and when we wake up everyday; not remembering what happened the day before but hoping for a change today

Final Verse: "all the trees, all the birds, and this thing called life, i'd stake it all for forty acres and a trophy wife" Basically what most people are thinkging. "HEY I dont need beauty when I can have sex and lots of land to make houses to hold my material possesions in" shows how most people dont take in the beauty in most thkngs in the world today "dust gathers on the books that contain our past, and we're but peons in a circuit built by time to last" All of this happened in the past and we always ened up looking back into the past and changing our ways, not this time. We are screwed "repeat repeat, as we've done before, our history all lost in war" Even if we had the common sence to try to fix what we have done we will always be doomed to our horrible lives "when the last of our cities are but powder and dust, the damned who remain will live with God and the glory of us" Great line. When this world comes to and end all of the people who have fucked up everything have died and the people who have been trying this whole time to help withe world have succseded at the last minute and the dead are in heaven because of the knowledge and common sence of the select people.

This is my interpretation and is probably not right but whatever :\

I'm guessing the title is a Star Wars reference, makes me picture an Ewok village.

hey guys, how about instead of totally over analyzing every line we realize that they have openly admitted on several accounts that half of their lyrics don't necessarily mean something deep?

that was on downtown battle mountain and a little bit of deathstar. the new cd has pretty serious lyrics aside from dont tell dave and strawberry swisher pt 1. im pretty sure will's lyrics on this song were influenced by the book "a canticle for leibowitz." kurts are about breaking up with his girlfriend, as are most of the lyrics on this album since that's what was going down at that time. will's lyrics on this album are pretty awesome, especially in the second half of NASA and the powder to the people ending.

lol well, in that case, excuse me for jumping to such bold conclusions.

But after getting used to lyrics like "If you're going to wear the uniform you better sell the cookies" I'm a bit less likely to take certain things seriously...

Not like I don't love that shit anyway.

Not Valid

i think "If you're going to wear the uniform you better sell the cookies" means that if youre gonna present yourself in a certia way or act like something you better back it up

easily the best song on the album

i imagine its criticizing the girl that dumped kurt. saying that life is fragile, and questioning how she could give up the happiness created between her and kurt. thats what im getting out of this..

theme: happiness is hard to find, dont let it go!

I think the song had to do with a relationship. February holding a lot of significance, oddly enough the month means a lot to me too. It seems something bad happened, referring to "And I could care less if I deserve this, I will never survive the sting inflicted. " The following parts seem to be about how hes giving up on holding any meaning to sexual actions. Also, he then speaks about a life he would once like "All the trees, all the birds, and this thing called life.) (I’d stake it all for forty acres and a trophy wife.) (Dust gathers on the books that contain our past,) (and we’re but peons in a circuit built by time to last.) ".

The song is deep. Being able to relate just makes it 1000x better. February is a ruiner.
