Q&A
Abandon. Lyrics
Is this the blessing or the curse?
Should I belong to the trend?
At least it's a tragedy that will only come once.
A choir of men sing sanctuary in faith.
Let's make believe that they are going to live.
Madame, I don't know your name, but I know your face.
Yeah, they sacrifice, but it costs nothing.
Madame, I don't know your name, but I know your face.
Is this the blessing or the curse?

I believe that this song is about how Jesus requires that we Love one others in order bring them to redemption in Jesus Christ.
He asks "is this a blessing or a curse", such a powerful honest question. It really describes the baggage that goes along with being a Christian in a world fallen from God and in a body that is constantly self seeking.
"Should I belong to the trend?" a question many Christians ask themselves "should I follow the way of the world and look out for myself"
"At least it's a tragedy that will only come once." I believe this is in reference to the ultimatum of this earth and that we will be at rest with our Father in the end.
"A choir of men sing sanctuary in faith." - Just a statement of the beauty of the realization of Christ.
"Let's make believe that they are going to live. Madame, I don't know your name, but I know your face." We need to see hope in people coming to Christ and that we can only win souls with love. Doing for others in honor of our Fathers love.
"Yeah, they sacrifice, but it costs nothing." Sacrifice = Love, God is Love. We must sacrifice our needs and desires to execute true love unto others. The title "Abandon" I believe refers to abandoning/deny yourself to truly inherit the kingdom of heaven.

BlurPoet, I wasn't sure what to make of the lyrics when I read over them. I wasn't sure if it was, in a sense, a sarcastic view of the lukewarm American church. But my previous view was mainly based on the lines, "A choir of men sing sanctuary in faith. Let's make believe that they are going to live." As it sounds like these people believe themselves Christians, but in reality God is far from them. But after reading your thoughts I definitely believe you are pretty spot on with everything. Great insight man, God bless.
