Sometimes Lyrics

I am an island underneath the setting sun
In an ocean that is churning
For all I know there might be nobody nearby
Still, the world, it keeps on turning

And when that sun goes down
It gets brighter in my heart somehow
I don't know why this is
But it's what I want to know

Sometimes we start over
And go solo
We're looking for
That summer home
Beside the sea
And for the future

Since I left you I'm a gold balloon that wanders high
I won't sing through rainbows and showers
Taking lovers just might keep my tears at bay
But they can break at any hour

By candle-light you seem
To deepen in your mysteries
Confusing forces move
At the tides of these seas

Sometimes we start over
And go solo
We're looking for
The ones we've hurt
Just to forgive us
In the future

Sometimes we start over
And go solo
No metaphors
Are needed from
This time onwards
In the-

Sooooome
Oooooooh
Aaaaaaah
Oooooooh

And when the sun goes down
It gets brighter in my heart somehow
I don't know why this is
But it's what I'd like to know

Sometimes we start over
And go solo
We're looking for
The ones we've hurt
Just to forgive us
In the future

Sometimes we start over
And just go solo
No metaphors
Are needed from
This time onwards

I think it's about breaking up with someone and being single again. You do it for yourself, because you want something better. I think this song talks about the confusion that the sudden independence sometimes brings.

Describes the change in direction from the first album to this. They've changed their sound and gone more direct 'no metaphors are needed from this time onwards' so yeah I think it just explains that in a nice ballad way.

I feel this song can relate to anything you want to mold it in to being. I don't feel it has just one set meaning.

It's about that moment after your whole world has crashed and burned. You find yourself alone with your thoughts and at peace with everything: "No metaphors Are needed from This time onwards"

You know that life can only get better:

"Sometimes we start over And go solo We're looking for That summer home Beside the sea And for the future"

You start that healing process:

"Sometimes we start over And go solo We're looking for The ones we've hurt Just to forgive us In the future"

When you let go and allow yourself to be free: "Since I left you I'm a gold balloon that wanders high"
