Q&A
Wapakalypse Lyrics
Dear tomorrow,
Find some sensibility
Respond to emotion
Dear politician,
Define sagacity
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they have chosen
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they've selected
Nobody stands behind the nation they've selected
All changes of survival are beginning to diminish
Comedy is no excuse for our own blasphemies
Mass Media/Mass Pessimism/Mass Denial
My television tells me to panic, but I don't think I'll listen
The apathetic force us to persevere
The apathetic, with their backwards priorities
If only the strongest of stone was not necessary
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they have chosen
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they've selected
Nobody stands behind the nation they've selected
We could build a memory:
Liberation includes failure
Your rebellion is resultless
So be angry at yourself
If only we did not deserve this
Find some sensibility
Respond to emotion
Dear politician,
Define sagacity
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they have chosen
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they've selected
Nobody stands behind the nation they've selected
All changes of survival are beginning to diminish
Comedy is no excuse for our own blasphemies
Mass Media/Mass Pessimism/Mass Denial
My television tells me to panic, but I don't think I'll listen
The apathetic force us to persevere
The apathetic, with their backwards priorities
If only the strongest of stone was not necessary
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they have chosen
One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they've selected
Nobody stands behind the nation they've selected
We could build a memory:
Liberation includes failure
Your rebellion is resultless
So be angry at yourself
If only we did not deserve this

"Dear tomorrow, Find some sensibility Respond to emotion Dear politician, Define sagacity"
Those first lyrics are very powerful, but they are made to seem unassuming. What they are saying is that people are invested so much in the future, but what they don't understand is that there's nothing certain of 'tomorrow.' All this investment is like investing belief in a politician - a politician could never define sagacity, as it has none - politicians are just rich, privileged men who work the system and lie through their teeth - and tomorrow can never find sensibility or respond to emotion, as it has no capacity to feel. We will not live to see tomorrow if we live solely on hope. The people of this world must act now, must take action, if tomorrow is a day they would like to see with clarity.
id say u guys pointing out that its about one politician or another is wrong. rather they're talking about all politicians in general who are hypocrites and whos actions end up making the country worse and doing things contrary to their beliefs
I think what they are saying is neither anti-Bush nor anti-Obama. It seems to me that it's showing a trend - which is how the people are never happy w/ the results of their actions. We all blame the president but what about the government in general? I dislike both presidents but you can't push ALL the blame on either of them when they have tons of people under them making decisions as well. Back to the point of the song:
"Dear tomorrow, Find some sensibility Respond to emotion" -here he's asking the future to change and realize what we're doing wrong right now.
"Dear politician, Define sagacity" -Alot of the politicians act like they have the answer and every one else is an idiot. he seems to be asking the politicians to stop acting like they've got all the wisdom in the world [maybe not the best answer here..]
"One after another, nobody stands behind the ones they have chosen" -The people are unhappy w/ those they have elected, referring to basically any President as all of them have had low points where people regret choosing them.
"All changes of survival are beginning to diminish" - maybe saying this cycle will eventually diminish and fade into when people realize no man can save us? i'm not sure here..
"Comedy is no excuse for our own blasphemies Mass Media/Mass Pessimism/Mass Denial My television tells me to panic, but I don't think I'll listen" -here i think he's saying that we make fun of our leaders to put off the despair of how far they're taking us down but at the same time we have to look towards how we can make it better and be wary of what the media tells us.
"The apathetic force us to persevere The apathetic, with their backwards priorities If only the strongest of stone was not necessary" -everyone criticizes the gov but few actually do something to fix things. not sure what he means by the stone comment though
"We could build a memory: Liberation includes failure Your rebellion is resultless So be angry at yourself If only we did not deserve this" -All of the Political hate is fueled into a black hole of angst and criticism that no one does anything about so in the end its our fault.
Hope all this helped, again, i could be wrong but hopefully this is close.
this song is about how no one will support any of our leaders, how divided we all are from eachother. in my opinion its talking about how the united states is a failure because no one, not even its own citizens, support it.
this song is obviously about obama. notice when the cd was published. why would they publish a song in may 2009 about bush, when obama had been president (illegally b/c he's not a citizen) for 5 months? it's definitely about obama no matter what you people say. obama is a failure and he is ruining our country. hmm, let's see, he promised to make the economy better...he hasn't, he's made it worse (stimilus).

how you like ur 'change' now huh??

I'm not even an Obama supporter, but I have to say, you're an idiot. You're 18 years old, shut the fuck up. You haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about. Obama is a citizen of the United States, so shove that fact up your stupid, stubborn, ignorant ass. Do you really think one man can fix a country in 5 after it's been through being fucked up for 8 years?

You're just a stupid, uneducated child. I'm embarrassed to even be listening to the same music as you.

its not bashing any one particular leader guys. all this bout its against bush or obama is absolutely wrong because this is a christian band and they wouldn't write a song like that in the first place.
to me, the song is talking about just things that are wrong with America, well kinda anyways. We elect our leaders but then don't follow them after they've been elected. I think the key reason that we even have a president is because people want someone to blame for all the wrongs that are happening to this country. You can blame whoever you want but when it comes down to it, our leaders in office do the best they can the only way they can, and people are never going to be happy with it. (this is why i hate politics with a passion)
also, it says my television tells me to panic but i don't think ill listen. I think this is very true. the news, the media, all of it tries to get you to fear everything. it makes the world seem a whole lot more dangerous and cruel than it actually is. instead of telling about a lot of the good events, they focus the majority on the bad doings in America and make it seem like everyone and everything is going evil. The media works to turn us against our leaders (usually unless they're democratic). pretty much this is just a backwards nation and thats kinda what i get from it.
I'm not gonna explain the entire song but the angry at yourself part they mean that were all blessed to be born into a strong wealthy country with so much freedom. And he's saying that we pick our own leaders, were not dictated, and after we get what we want it is never enough for us and we abandon the people we choose. That we choose who we pick and you can't blame anyone. But ourselves for being so blind and picking ignorant leaders. If your not happy then try going to other countries who don't have enough water for the day. It's talking about how selfish we are as Americans that we will bitch and complain about everything and anything we can and no one will take the blame for it all. We all wanna dump it on someone else to cover our own backs. I'm not saying bush was good or anything about politics, just talking about the song here. I'm seeing the same thing happening with Obama.
Sorry if this was kinda confiusing I'm trying to do it from an iPhone here so my bad if it dosemt make any sense.
I like this song, but I don't really know what it means? It's about politics, and judging my the lyrics, I'm guessing war, right?
yeah i think you're totally correct. it sounds like its maybe about bush. in the beginning he had a lot of support, but after we had seen the outcome of his judgment [or lack thereof] people started to rip on him and make jokes about his leadership skills. they mention the word 'sagacity' which is wisdom; i think they're saying that although the president may not have made wise decisions, we ultimately made the decision to put him in office, and we need to stand behind him despite his stupidity. i really like the line 'so be angry at yourself, if only we did not deserve this.'
we reap what we sow.
The "Bush Thing" is kinda too easy to use as an answer. This song is not just about politics, but society in general. Bush was not the only president that has led to where our country, and world, is heading. But in the big picture, isn't everything happening leading down to where the end point is?

This could mean Bush, but could mean Obama as well. The important point...
This could mean Bush, but could mean Obama as well. The important point I think the singer is trying to make is that everything you see in the world is of no real importance.
Mass media, society, etc. is trying to blow everything out of proportion to create fear. Disease, war, crime, all of this is bad, but why should people worry if God has their back?
The last lines of "So be angry at yourself, If only we did not deserve this" is awesome! Basically this is not about a political vote, but a reflection on how we as mankind have let our values and cultural standards drop so low, that we now reap what we have sown.
incredible answer; very eloquent, and i definitely agree. i honestly didn't think about it that much, so good point.

I agree with this a lot. It's mostly saying if you're going to put someone in office that doesn't make the right choices, oh well because YOU voted for him.

Yes, you said it. The last lines is like, You chose this so be angry at yourself, meaning don't be mad at everyone/someone else for something that YOU yourself have done wrong.

"We could build a memory: Liberation includes failure"
Those lines sound really powerful but I don't exactly understand what they're trying to say? Is he saying to just look at the past--to succeed, you must fail first? I'm probably wrong but yeah.
I'm pretty sure this is about politics... I like the Bush idea that Chelsrouk put out there. I think it's also sort of about how people only voted for him because of Faith or whatever, that there is a difference between religion and government because we pick these things based on ourselves and not on a global scale, only fucking us over ever more.
