What We Know Lyrics
I'm in a state of shock
I'm creeping up and down your block
I'm looking into you
I'm trying to catch your view
It's not a quiet meditation
Oh, that you know
Darkness makes the night more cold
That's what we know about me
Satisfied wise child
Creeping heart and frozen perfection
You can touch my hand
I drink a case of you
Heaven's not about your reputation
Yeah, that I know
Forever means the night turns gold
That's what we know about you
It's been quite a ride
With you my sweet, here by my side
Funny how the mountains slide
We're stepping across the great divide
Our bodies vibrate slowly
Yeah, that we know
Bound to give it heart and soul
That's what we know about us
I'm creeping up and down your block
I'm looking into you
I'm trying to catch your view
Oh, that you know
Darkness makes the night more cold
That's what we know about me
Creeping heart and frozen perfection
You can touch my hand
I drink a case of you
Yeah, that I know
Forever means the night turns gold
That's what we know about you
With you my sweet, here by my side
Funny how the mountains slide
We're stepping across the great divide
Our bodies vibrate slowly
Yeah, that we know
Bound to give it heart and soul
That's what we know about us

this song is amazing. as is the entire album, the eternal.
i have a feeling this song is about a guy and a prostitute, or at least a girl with a "reputation". thus they don't know a lot about each other, and so "what they know" is that he is lonely ("darkness makes the night turn cold") and she can satisfy him ("forever means the night turns gold").
I can't help but wonder if "I drink a case of you" is a reference to Joni Mitchell's song A Case Of You. Considering Lee's influences I think it's a reasonable statement...
This one might be about Thurston & Kim coming to terms with their seperation?? Thurston talking about himself, then Kim. Then goes off how even though they're now seperated, they actually still acknowledge and respect each other and all that they've both accomplished with SY.
Yeah, I'm thinking they've been seperated since after Rather Ripped and they decided to do one more album for old time's sakes. AKA Let's jam and have one last hurrah!!! Which is what The Eternal is about.
I agree, this is likely about a prostitute or a least a sexual encounter with women who has a negative reputation.
Yes, and I love everything on the Eternal.
I actually added this to my vampire playlist. LOL.
