Harsh the Herald Angels Sing Lyrics

How harsh the herald angels sing
I've been puking my guts all morning
Oh too bad the hex of unfairer sex
It's difficult and it's boring

I guess I just quit drinking
I guess I just quit smoking
I guess I'll need some names
Alvin, William and James
Doctor tell me you're joking

Take the bus to the free clinic on Clemens
With my headphones on, no music
Please don't sit next to me

Glad Lee, the cross-eyed bear
Walks into a bar
She says "you don't know how lucky you men are"
The tenants who live below me
They all pretend they don't know me
Cos they don't see a ring
Now they know everything
They whisper and don't "hello" me

But talk your shit, man, I don't care
It's blank for a boy but for a girl it's Claire

but talk your shit man I don't care it's _____ for a boy for a girl it's Claire

are these from the liner notes of the disc, or an official CFTPA website, or just your correction? Seems better, but I'm confused about the last line and was i thinking it was:

"it's blank for a boy but for a girl its clear"

but i don't know, these lyrics are a bit hard to interpret, but i am assuming it is about getting an STD? Any comments :P ??

and by "it" i meant the song in general not that line - don't get that last verse at reeally get it :|

i think its about an unwed couple finding out they're pregnant

I thought it was about an unexpected pregnancy, but not from the perspective of a couple, but rather a single female who 1) suffers morning sickness, 2) has to give up smoking and drinking 'for the baby', 3) doesn't quite know who the father is, Alan, William or James, 4) worries about what the neighbours will think shen they see her obviously pregnant and not wearing a wedding ring, and 5) hasn't thought of a name if the baby is a boy, but will call it Clare if it's a girl.

As far as casiotone writing songs from the perspective of a woman, there's plenty of others of his songs as well.

Blurb from the October 12, 2009 Daytrotter Session: "This song started as a modern day immaculate conception story, but I like that it also lends itself to a more general sort interpretation. I hope you like hymn puns."
