in some old interview Maika said this song was about growing up, seeing things for what they really are, and generally finding clarity through your own perspective... but that was too complicated to put into music-video form so they chose romance instead :P

people around him have had things going just as they want them to, getting all the right outcomes, but the singer's tired of having to sit quiet with his own dissatisfaction; he's kept his mouth shut long enough, and he's taking his chance to be honest.

the singer feels like the only one who's observed how things always seem to go back to the same series of events, something worn-out and tired that he's already experienced before. this person is around him, but their presence is one-sided and empty, and it's not enough to feel like they care.

he hesitates as all of the initial anger and resentment he felt toward this news is finally starting to clear, but now he's left to cope with the pain of an untimely situation; it's too much to bear, and something he hasn't & probably never would've been prepared to deal with.

I think the writer of this song was maybe cheated on and the cheater didn't learn anything from hurting them and the writer doesn't really understand why they are staying with this person, because everything they say seems to be a lie and feels like its just another relationship "this cut and dry routine" and wants to know why this one should be special and what the other person is looking for in them. also the relationship is kind of at a standstill, they are waiting for something to happen and figuring out what to do. find out what the other wants sooner, and they want it to work, but they aren't sure if they are right for each other, but they still don't want to be alone...

btw.. the lyrics are wrong.
