Emerging Lyrics
I am hungry, but I'm not cold.
I'm starving, but the suit keeps me warm,
and the light hits me full in the face
as I assume my new and dreadful form.
Kick an incubator open
like a flower in bloom;
Sustenance, blessed sustenance
oozing from the tomb...
I know that sleeping bodies hide
sweet things inside.
And in the ever-present light,
and in my ever-growing needs...
If a man should crest the ridge,
he's gonna have to watch me feed.
But no one's ever gonna come,
and nobody's gonna know.
I will sail home again
concealed among the upright walking men.
To know that sleeping bodies hide
sweet things inside...
I'm starving, but the suit keeps me warm,
and the light hits me full in the face
as I assume my new and dreadful form.
like a flower in bloom;
Sustenance, blessed sustenance
oozing from the tomb...
sweet things inside.
and in my ever-growing needs...
If a man should crest the ridge,
he's gonna have to watch me feed.
and nobody's gonna know.
I will sail home again
concealed among the upright walking men.
sweet things inside...

This song is about that universal moment everyone experiences when your moon colony has failed and all the people you used to be surrounded by die, and you decide, in your loneliness, "Well damnit I sure am awful hungry, and my old coworkers sure are awful dead, and don't they look awful delicious, too." So naturally you eat their organs. In another sense, this song is about the harmful things solitude and desperation make you do, and how sometimes you enjoy them.
i feel like this song is definitely about trauma, the ugly things you did at your absolute worst to keep yourself alive, and how no one else will ever understand those things so you have to carry them alone. this song is painfully lonely
also, "sleeping bodies" and the murder implications of "bloodbath" suggest to me that the other colonists were less dead and more in some sort of coma, cryogenic sleep maybe
