Brendon's Song Lyrics
Help me I can't get out,
I live my life not knowing what it's about.
The stains of guilt on my mind,
Heavens what I want to find.
This is now, that was then,
I want to be born again.
For these and all my past sins I am truly sorry.
The darkness came,
The light fought through,
Mercy is all,
I ask of you. (x2)
Father, Father, please set me free,
From my misery. (x2)
Resurrected we've been told,
We're all made of,
Gold.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death,
Save us
I live my life not knowing what it's about.
The stains of guilt on my mind,
Heavens what I want to find.
This is now, that was then,
I want to be born again.
For these and all my past sins I am truly sorry.
The light fought through,
Mercy is all,
I ask of you. (x2)
Father, Father, please set me free,
From my misery. (x2)
We're all made of,
Gold.
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death,
Save us

There's lyrics missing... This is just the Christian side of it. Kind of makes me think that the band was originally Christian, but their song writer got booted... I think the full lyrics are...
"Help me I can't get out, I live my life not knowing what it's about. The stains of guilt on my mind, Heavens what I want to find. This is now, that was then, I want to be born again. For these and all my past sins I am truly sorry.

In the beginning I used to believe That you were the savior but I was naive You were a stranger that I couldn't see Now I'm in danger, please set me free
Resurrected we've been told, We're all made of, Gold.

So the song could be about how less faithful Christians just go back and forth from believing to not believing in God, as can be inferred from "In the beginning, I used to believe... Now I'm in danger, please set me free." That could be saying that people stop believing in God or stop worrying about trying to be faithful to him until they need his help. And that's not how God works, so it could be saying that that's not the way to be living your Christian life. But I think it's more likely that a Christian was their original writer, and they booted him and changed the meaning with the bridge of the song.

This band is still christian even though they have a different song writer, even though they have really dirty mouthes.

well the right lyric is actually "in the beginning i used to believe that you were NO savior but i was naive" so to me the song is about finding god not fluctuating between needing him and ignoring him

well a christian band that curses kinda defies the point a little bit. i definitely cant play that loud and be proud about it. if anyone knows of any bands that dont curse but sound similar to Abandon all ships post it. This song and guardian angel are great.

I also thought they were christian at first, then I saw the meaningless swearing in their lyrics...
