I'm pretty sure that this song is just about a girl who thinks a guy is awesome and wants to be with him but the guy thinks/knows he is nowhere near awesome and doesn't really want anything more than sex and would probably hurt the girl if he let her get to close so he wants her to go away.
It could be deeper than that, but that's my first inference.
I Agree with YourHeroIsDead, but would like to add that the guy is trying to warn her away buts she's still there trying to figure him out, but in the process is making the guy out to be more than he is, which is basically just the kind of guy he thinks she shouldn't want to know.
This song to me is about a Narcisist talking to the girl he's dating, and warning her to walk away, as well as doubting she really loves him and wants to be with him.
It describes the sympoms of Narcisistic Personality Disorder perfectly.
"I'm half the man that you think that I have been" = Narcisists tend to lie and exagerate their own accomplishments to make themselves sound better.
"I'm empty" = A strong characteristic of NPD is a feeling of inner emptiness
"I might still be here, living hell" = The mask of extreme vainity is covering extreme lack of self confidence, and this line is referring to the inner misery hating yourself deep down and such.
