Here We Go

I think this song is about how this guy and girl's relationship came too fast too soon, and it was too intense and they rushed it. and he doesn't know if he'll ever be with her again, but if he does, he wants to do it right and he doesn't want to "lose her all over again". no more goodbye kisses. and even though he's been hurt, he'll give his heart over and over, because that's just the heart he has for her.

the hardest breakups are when things just get overwhelming, and even though the two people still love each other, people just run away because they feel they need to breathe. and in the end, they both lose their best friend. and they realize that it's a long road running away, but they're scared to go down that path with each other again.

In a recent interview, Mat Kearney had this to say about Here We Go:

"Here We Go is like, was one of the oldest songs and it, I felt like it was a real, it became like a sonic identity that, we wanted to go after, the record which was to make it big and epic, and kind of this old 80's, like early 80's war U2 record. Like I feel like some of those elements we touched on was like, 'Wow, this really works.' And it was actually the first song where I really started playing all the electrics, which was big for me. I haven't done that tons, but I think I end up playing most of the music, so, which has a simple quality to it, you know I'm not like a very profound player but I found my identity, and I found my inability to be something that I liked a lot. Made it visceral and refined. So, Here We Go is really, is this kind of crying out. It could be a break up song or it could be a plea to not be a breakup song. Somewhere in there."

Okay, this is my favorite song, and it might be best to not share what it means to me, but I'm just so excited to. I have learned from this song so many things, but one thing in particular is the beauty of intimacy. Being someone of a artist myself, I began to get wrapped up in an idea I believe that has been taught to me by the culture which says instant is powerful/better/beautiful. We're like kids in a candy store eating ourselves to a stomach ache, or atleast I know I have been. Okay, but any way I have learned the beauty of intimacy, and time, and slowy finding deeper and deeper treasures in a work of art, in a song. With that said I'll say this song, I believe this song is a plea from one to another saying don't leave me, because I will never leave you and if we break up it wasn't because of me, but because of you. That's all I'll share, I encourage you to take it from there, but this song is absolutely beautiful, and has become an essential piece/peace to my life, when I feel as though I'm on the brink of losing it all.

I think the songs meaning is that he loves a woman so much and will do anything for her giving his heart over and over again to her and he wonders why she keeps walking away from him kissing him goodbye and he really doesn't know what he really did to make her leave all he wants is to be with her she is his air his life he can't live without her
