Human Lullaby Lyrics
And when I close my eyes,
This blackened canvas falls,
And darkness starts to shine
And dreams begin to call
And when I watch them float,
I hold my sleeping breathf for hidden truths,
That live beyond my death.
Loneliness is sweet, This paradox is sleep.
It's a human lullaby, one more reason why
Yesterday just burnt away
And when I place this ear,
Against the pebbled ground,
I can feel the world
Breathe, exhaling,
Earthly sounds, they hover deep
The mechanism turns,
The clockwork creaks slowly
As the molten lava churns,
Loneliness is sweet.
Loneliness is sweet, This paradox is sleep.
It's a human lullaby, one more reason why
Yesterday just burnt away
Loneliness is sweet
Yesterday just burnt away
This blackened canvas falls,
And darkness starts to shine
And dreams begin to call
And when I watch them float,
I hold my sleeping breathf for hidden truths,
That live beyond my death.
It's a human lullaby, one more reason why
Yesterday just burnt away
Against the pebbled ground,
I can feel the world
Breathe, exhaling,
Earthly sounds, they hover deep
The mechanism turns,
The clockwork creaks slowly
As the molten lava churns,
Loneliness is sweet.
It's a human lullaby, one more reason why
Yesterday just burnt away
Yesterday just burnt away

Personally, I think this song relates to retrospect: how when falling asleep and while not being distracted by the presence of another ("lonliness is sweet"), you are fully able to think over the activities and events of the previous day and mull over reasons for things which may have eluded you.
The first verse is about anticipating sleep and dreams, and the second verse is about insight into the way the world works - the mechanism turns, the molten lava churns etc represents the insight that you gain with the ability to rationally think things over on your own.
"Yesterday just burned away" is, in a way, Johnny defining yesterday by the level of uncertainty you have about prior events, and not just the time of day/night... perhaps that's why whenever you pass out intoxicated, the days seem to merge together? Just a thought.
For some reason, I think this song is about humanity's total distrust of one another. The lyrics just make me think of how no one REALLY knows each other, and everyone holds secrets they'll keep to the grave. No matter what, mankind will always be lonely, because we're too selfish to truly and completely care about others.
