We Called It America Lyrics

Remember when America had a middle class
And an upper class, that was way before the exodus
That was the America that we thought was number one,
Thought would overcome, thought would never die
That was just our pride and faith, two shitty deadly sins
I know faith isn’t one of ‘em but it should have been
Cuz when things were crumbling, we had no camaraderie
Just a faith someone would save us from despondence

We called it America

Number one America was a slogan used to keep morale up
When we knew we were already cooked
Then the richer western states, succeeded in secession
And the eastern ones followed right behind.
Mexi-Can-America was the perfect name that
Epitomized the order of significance, authority and affluence
We had turned it all around
Went from number one straight to number two (shit)

We called it America

National bankruptcy, circumcised society
USA dined and ditched, Fox reports “poor is the new rich”

We called it America

I think this song is about how America has been a major power in the world (we still are) but now we have also become one of the more poor countries with the financial recession. This song kinda goes with the whole "we're only gonna die from our own arrogance" thing cuz forever us americans thought, oh ya we can just spend money like apeshit and we'll be alright, but now the economies fucked and people are finding different.

Candidates need to consider how far the 1920's were important in trade union/labour development. The period 1920-29 saw a major assault on trade union rights by big business. Federal and state economic legislation aided 'yellow dog' contracts (no strike contacts).

Look at me! I took A-Level History. It's clearly about calling it 'America' - it says in the title.

....ah din't know the spurnge was supposed to be weyt

The unions are part of the problem that has lead us to the decline. They demand greater and greater benefits, it was only a matter of time before we sent their jobs overseas. I hate to break it to you, but a proud america union worker is just as good as watching the robots on the assembly line as a poor chinese worker. Whats the difference between the two? One bitches and demands more and more, while the other is grateful to have a fucking job. Production is more mobile than labor, because production has the damn cash to chase...
