Light Switch Lyrics
Was put in a round room
And told to sit in the corner
While they washed my brain with a dirty rag
Was given a hammer
And told to build a fortress
With walls impossible to penetrate
You're the only thing I need
And you've become the only thing
That keeps me breathing, without you I'd be
In a dark place, no light switch
An open wound without a stitch
Maybe now you will understand
No matter how stable
The foundation may seem
Everything is crashing down on me
With papercuts on fingertips
Blackened eyes and broken lips
Forever wounded, it's hard to tell
You're the only thing I need
Whether I fail or succeed
Within my blindness, you are all I see
The morning fog sun burns away
A predator's eye without its prey
Maybe now you will understand
I won't quit on you
No, I won't quit on you
Ever
And told to sit in the corner
While they washed my brain with a dirty rag
And told to build a fortress
With walls impossible to penetrate
And you've become the only thing
That keeps me breathing, without you I'd be
In a dark place, no light switch
An open wound without a stitch
Maybe now you will understand
The foundation may seem
Everything is crashing down on me
Blackened eyes and broken lips
Forever wounded, it's hard to tell
Whether I fail or succeed
Within my blindness, you are all I see
The morning fog sun burns away
A predator's eye without its prey
Maybe now you will understand
No, I won't quit on you
Ever

The first verse has to do with brain washing, and the remaining verses make me think of blind faith, possibly in religion. The choruses are great--very heart felt. Could possibly apply to a relationship, but the verses make me think they were are pointing more toward the blind faith idea and people devoting themselves to religion. The first chorus in particular is very sad and poignant to me. Great writing.
Best new song.
I heard it as "the morning fog sends birds away."
I first though it was "Blackened eyes and broken lips" which I like, but now I also hear "limbs" and it does sound like "limbs" more.
Aw.
Definitely keeping up with the theme of religion in the album. Absolutely stunning track! People who say this is a weak Dredg album need to get their ears checked, seriously!
