Kiss You Goodnight Lyrics

I dont care to know
The time on the wall
The placement of my shoes on the wood floor

The last boat has left
Cant carry you afloat
I fear the empty, wet bed
The empty grey coat

And i wont go till you're asleep
You open your mouth
Like an asthma attack, you repeat
"If all that you take from this is courage, then i've no regrets"

I wanted to kiss you goodnight
No longer can pretend
It wont cave in and will be alright
I wanted to save this last light
With dawn comes certainty of what we'll be
For now hold me lightly
(For now hold me light)

I look to the floor
Your hair like cut grass
Your vomit
It forms a gold chain round your neck

I wont make you up
No need for last words
These last idle hours
More than i desereve
"..you take from this courage, than i've no regrets"

I wanted to kiss you goodnight
No longer can pretend
It wont cave in and will be alright
I wanted to save this last light
With dawn comes certainty of what we'll be
For now hold me lightly

Dont settle for less again
You've become more
Than i could have become for you
Could have inspired to be

Hesitation will leave dents on the walls and the rail
And your scent will leave me with more faith in myself

I wanted to kiss you goodnight
No longer can pretend
It wont cave in and will be alright
Wanted to tell you i lied

I said i'd make i through this world alright, but i dont care to try
I'd make it through this world , but i dont care to try

Why has no one commented on this? It's beautiful, poetic... I love it. I'm also pretty sure it's "wake you up" not "make you up".

i love this song so much. after you read the lyrics you can pretty much figure out what it's about. on their website at

http://www.meganddia.com/news/2009/04/15/story-here-here-and-here-dia

dia explains the songs from the album. and simply this one is about remembering the things that people have taught you through their lifetime (i think). about them being remembered, and us taking in all that we can from them. but there's one line that i find so powerful but i want to know the correct grammar... the last line,

"i wanted to tell you i lied. i said i'd make it through this world alright but i don't care to try."

the way Dia writes it on the website is, "i said "i'd make it through this world alright, but i don't care to try.' "

but... wouldn't it make more sense if it was,

"i said 'i'd make it through this world alright' but i don't care to try." as in, she told them that she could make through, but the lying part was that she didn't even want to try?

it's something i'm kind of confused on, if anyone could help clarify it with me, that'd be great.
