this song is so poetic, but also extremely sad, I really think this is the saddest nick drake song. it's obviuosly about death, the ''day'' is like life, when it's done, when it reach the end doesn't matter what you may have done IT JUST THE END. That's why ''When the bird has flown/Got no-one to call your own/ Got no place to call your home/When the bird has flown'' the bird is like your soul.
