She is talking about letting go of everything she knows is worldy and leaving it up to God. She is taking a giant leap of faith to believe in him to fulfill her needs & make her happy. She is letting go of what she had planned for herself cuz God has a plan for her life already. And as long as she continues to fight against his plan to do what He wants her to do she will never find true happiness.
God doesn't like seeing you sad, but you must go through some things as like a test, to build you up and help build strength. It's kind of stress relieving sometimes that you can just lay all your problems on him and ask him to take care of them for you. It's almost like holding your breath and counting to ten in your head and taking a deep breath. It's amazing & so is this song.

This sounds like Sara Bareilles' Love Song..
But the lyrics is of course great and nice to cheer around while listening to it.
It's a nice up-beat song.
But, I can't help but wonder this.. the song kinda sounds like it's about suicide or a person who wants to attempt suicide. Just look at the lyrics people!
I suppose being raised in church kinda made me read it different from the get-go, but after reading your comment, I can see how you think that. While songs are definitely for the individual to interpret and you're of course more than welcome to draw whatever conclusions you wish, it is so much more than a person wishing to end his or her own life. When she says she's letting go of herself and her dreams and whatnot, I am fairly certain she's saying she's letting go of everything she had planned for herself... Everything that she ever built for...

Everything that she ever built for herself that was of the world... God has so much in store for us if we follow Him and trust in Him... Whatever He has in mind for us is infinitely better than any plan we could ever contrive for ourselves... Letting go is a good thing because when you let go, you let God, and when you let God, amazing things happen =]
