Worldwide Lyrics
I think this is about wanting to get away from the daily stresses of life and just be free, perhaps the person he's talking to in this song represents that for him and he just wants to run away from his life and be with her, no matter where she is.
this is the best song. macey taylor, i love you.
written by conor oberst, given to macey taylor to sing
almost sounds like conor though
This is my first post on here so hope it doesn't suck too much!
Imagining myself as the narrator: I just need to be emotionally washed away from the anxiety of my current life. Everything is clear if she (my girl) can just help transition my mood to a place where all the crappy noise moves into my blind spot ("as if my eyes were shut").
I'm talking about how I have her back when she's in trouble, but really, I'm the one in trouble right now ("winter's cold"). I screwed up with work or friends (had a good thing going but didn't stay) and am sick of having to cover my tracks with all these people ("lying for a living").
I need her to help me get a fresh start, forget these people ("bones"), this place ("ghosts"), and just get me out of here. It's a wide world, but really, I just need to be with her, in any corner of the town, looking into her eyes, trusting her, knowing she's safe to me, and traveling worlds away from my troubling emotional state ("leaving it all behind").
I need her to make me feel like I'm never going back there ("passport in the trash"). I know I don't need to feel so much anxiety, and that there are so many other ways to feel ("the world is wide"), but it won't happen until she comforts me ("shut my eyes").
Great song! He really emotes a desperate feel, and I sense that this is an escaping pattern he uses to cope with anxiety or life troubles. Epic line: "I've fallen through a trap door, into you".
