any know what "why can't i see the sunspots in your eyes?" mean? i could never figure it out.
When you look at someone in person or in photos, you can see that little white spot in their eyes from light. I think what he's saying is that there's something wrong with his love, he can't quite put his finger on it. He can't see the sunspots in her eyes which is something that should be there. Something about her is missing and she seems dead to him. That's my interpretation, anyway.

This song is awesome! It seems like he's talking to himself through the song. The "Why can't I see the sunspots in your eyes" can be him questioning why he hasn't seen "the light" or the motivation to do something other than stay up late sleep late and repeat.
Post college twenty something stuck in a cycle of self hate and apathy. He loves someone, but they never seem to open up. All affectionate gestures are water on them. He can't see the sunspots (a euphemism for any emotion at all, really) in her eyes. Everything seems like a waste.
