Last Time Lyrics

I wanna give up again my love and live like a runaway.
Making bands in an alley way, so I can dream of a better day.
Is there anyone left who will understand i am made of flesh and bone.
I tried to tell you on the telephone, all I needed was a stepping stone.

This is the last time I'm gonna let you down.
It's finally over.
It's finally over.

Every time I try to go to sleep you flood my memory.
Though I live like an absentee, all I care is that you'll reach for me.
I'm gonna burn that bridge and build build a home with waters weaving underground (let you go).
Livin' high and searching for the sound, a silent wall and we tore it down.

This is the last time I'm gonna turn around.
It's finally over.
It's finally over.
This is the last time I'm gonna let you down.
It's finally over.
It's finally over.

(Repeats after Bridge)

Let me hold your hand my dear at least until the smoke has cleared.
Our love has turned towards your eye I don't know why I go in circles.
...for to fame Yea I could find recovery.
In every single lonely ride I don't know why I go in circles.

Just one correction: It should be "Would I be a fool to think that I could find recovery in every single lonely lie? I don't know why I go in circles."

this band is my favorite. I hate that nobody has heard of them!

My Interpretation

the person above me has it right, but shouldn't it be "making plans in an alleyway" not "making beds in an alleyway"?

regardless, this is my favorite paper route song. it's so beautiful.

I have a feeling this is about (who ever wrote it) their marriage, or at least before it. Hence 'Commitment had such a threatening sound we saw that wall and we tore it down', meaning that even though committing to each other seemed so hard, it was much easier than expected.

Pretty easy but I know most of the band is married, as you can tell with their song 'City Trucks' they have kids and such. Anyway, amazing band has gotten me through some tough situations, love them so much.

It is making beds in an alleyway.

it says so in the original album cover.
