You're so quiet
But it doesn't faze me
You're on time
You move so fast, makes me feel lazy
Let's join forces
We've got our guns and horses
I know you've been burned
But every fire is a lesson learned

I left my house, left my clothes
Door wide open, heaven knows
You're so worth it, you are

But I wish I could feel it all for you
I wish I could be it all for you
If I could erase the pain
Then maybe you'd feel the same
I'd do it all for you
I would, I would, I would, I would

Let's type words
'Cause they amount to nothing
Play it down
Pretend you can't take what you've found
But you found me
On a screen you sit at permanently

I left my house, left my clothes
Door wide open, heaven knows
You're so worth it, you are

But I wish I could feel it all for you
I wish I could be it all for you
If I could erase the pain
Then maybe you'd feel the same
I'd do it all for you
I would, I would, I would, I would

It's time to come clean
And make sense of everything
It's time that we found out who we are
'Cause when I'm standing here in the dark
I see your face in every star

But I wish I could feel it all for you (for you)
I wish I could be it all for you (for you)
If I could erase the pain
The maybe you'd feel the same
I'd do it all for you
I would, I would, I would

I'd do it all for you, I'd do it all for you
I'd do it all for you, I'd do it all for you
I'd do it all for you, I'd do it all for you
I'd do it all for you, I'd do it all for you

    Firstly, i love this song.

Secondly, i think the song is about a guy that she likes, which may be scared to be in a relationship because he's been hurt in the past ('I know you've been burned but every fire is a lesson learned') but she would do anything('I left my house, I left my clothes, Door wide open, Never knowing, You're so worth it, you are')to take back the past and erase all his pain he's experienced - and could see how much she loves him. ('But I wish I could feel all it for you, I wish I could be it all for you, If I could erase the pain And maybe you'd feel the same') With anyone we love, you generally want to take all negativity and pain away from them to protect them. Towards the end of the song she appears to want to come clean to him and find out get things out in the open ('It's time to come clean And make sense of everything, It's time that we found out who we are')

    Gorgeous Ellie, i love it!

“I wrote Guns And Horses about a romance that began online… I wanted the guy to feel more than he did for me but through no fault of his own he couldn’t. It’s a song about frustration essentially.” -ellie goulding

first of all (btw this is coming from the lyrics on the itunes digital booklet included with her album) its "heaven knows, youre so worth it, you are" and secondly, this may just be a typo, its "on a screen you sit at permanently" This is an amazing song btw :)

Amazing song, and as for the meaning, straight from the horse's mouth: "I wrote Guns And Horses about a romance that began online... I wanted the guy to feel more than he did for me but through no fault of his own he couldn't. It's a song about frustration essentially."

It's 'the screen you sit at permanantly', 'heaven knows' not 'never knowing' and 'I know you've been burned, but every fire is a lesson learnt'. X

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
