Born Dead Lyrics

You call this a privilege
No, I call it a right
There's no respect for life
No compromising
Coverage denied (coverage denied)

So sit behind your desk and tell me how I'm supposed to feel inside
You know I'm slowly dying and how long I have left is for you to decide

We keep on suffering everyday
The victims of opportunity
One nation under God, they said
We are all born dead

Dead and rotting bodies fill the
Fields in the east
There's no respect for life
Is this what makes us free?

So flex your muscle as you barricade the whole world piece by piece
How long until the ocean overflows into our yards and streets?

We keep on suffering everyday
The victims of opportunity
One nation under God, they said
We are all pawns, we are all sheep, we are all born dead

We can't escape this
Until we unify as one
We'll fight the sickness
until my time has come

We keep on suffering everyday
The victims of opportunity
One nation under God, they said
We are all born dead

We keep on suffering everyday
The victims of opportunity
One nation under God, they said
We are all pawns, we are all sheep, we are all born dead

the lyrics are completely wrong, however my view of the song is that he talks about the kind of government and social system we are placed in against will (at birth). and how they make all our deciscions and tell us how to live,

"So sit behind your desk and tell me how I'm supposed to feel inside You know I'm slowly dying how long I have left is for you to decide"

"One nation under God, THEY SAID"

so we are pretty much "born dead" because we really have limited freedoms and are run under their power.

Song Meaning

To me it simple. The song is obviously talking about America.

The song mentions the sense of entitlement that we as Americans have.

When they talk about "coverage denied" its about the insurance companies & how they deal with the medical coverge.

The "dead bodies in the east" is talking about the American war in the Middle East & how we try & control everything.

At the end they are saying America is never going to stop what their doing until we all come togeather & show them their faults.

This is just my opinion on the song.

This is the only song on the album I'm not sure about. Here's my best guess;

Their probably going threw some sort of insurance problems after their home burnt down, and aren't getting want they deserve because the war going own is putting supplies in low demand.

:D

                                                                   ~Seaira Rayne

Yeah, I agree with SeairaRayne, on the official ASWITS website, it says:

"As they struggle with the flawed insurance systems in place, and move to a hotel, everything starts to unravel."

I'm guessing he's pissed about the government and its flawed system because he may have not gotten compensated for his lose due to a technicality and so he broke, just a guess though.

Or ... Y'all can listen to Tyler. When coming from the perspective of the rest of the world...who causes many of their problems only to sustain a freedom-burning, yet, egocentric way of life? "hint: America" Also, according to this song - and for the majority of this cd which is extremely political - the government, elite, or whichever word you wish to describe the puppet master's of our time as, utilize society to perpetuate a false sense of security, or reality - if you will, through the ultimate facade of greed by money (what runs the world?, money and, in our case oil). The hints are given by the song title "Born Dead", the three definitions that any governing party will give their society(ies): "We(you) are all pawns, we(you) are all sheep, we(you) are all born dead", and the biggest hint of all is the stanza: Dead and rotting bodies fill the Fields in the east. There's no respect for life; it never stops. Is this what makes us free?. Sociology is a greater mind expansion than drugs my friends, unless swindled hand in hand ;). I say Fuck the norms, we need to be taught about the true bullshit at a younger age! They don't deserve to try and shape our children like they tried to shape us. And "Rock on" to Silverstein, legit Lyricists and musicians, keep rollin' out the truth, and we'll continue to roll alongside!

agreed, I'm glad thye are more informed about government bs than most bands are, the elites are criminals

This song ties into the storyline of the album because it's the reason for everything! the reason for the lack of morals, due to society and all it's flaws. The best friend can just go and romorselessly steal the main character's wife because he's born dead. The wife is a greedy, uncompassionate, cheating bitch because she's born dead. The main character is so susceptible to addiction because he's born dead. It's about how nobody even had a chance from the start to really make something of themselves or be a good person because a corrupt society has such a vicegrip on their hearts and minds.
