Vices Lyrics
you cant see me behind the door
i just heard everything you said
you call him
you're saying all the (same things) you used to say to me
who is he
i never thought you'd drop that avalanche on me
and be unfaithful
these hotel walls are paper thin
im going out
seven seven with the lime will keep me safe
long enough to stop the though of your embrace inside my head
the lies that ive been fed
throw it back behind my lips the pain is gone
line em up and knock em down the night goes on and on and on to let me cope with this disaster
im seven deep
her brown hair and blue eyes
looking right at me
who is she
i never thought I'd ever think of stepping out
I'll fight this temptation
this crowded bar is full of sin
i'm going out
seven seven with the lime will keep me safe
long enough to stop the though of your embrace inside my head
the lies that ive been fed
throw it back behind my lips the pain is gone
line em up and knock em down the night goes on and on and on to let me cope with this disaster
im not coming home tonight
i'd rather sleep on the street
im not coming home to you
i'd wont sleep with the devil (x3)
on this city street ill rest my head tonight
I'm going out!
seven seven with the lime will keep me safe
long enough to stop the thought of your embrace inside my head
the lies that i've been fed
throw it back behind my lips the pain is gone

what does seven seven with the lime mean??
seven seven is a drink...7-up and Seagram's 7 (whiskey). Hence a seven and seven.
plus a lime.
The girl cheated on him and it truly shocked and devastated him when he found out. However, instead of sulking and wishing for her back he's going out, getting drunk in an attempt to numb the pain she's putting him through. In the back of his mind he knows he's better off, and the alcohol just reinforces those feelings.
From what i've thought the songs are like a story. In the first song a girl is abused until she's 6 and then the song end. And then Vices is the resume to the song before, it starts with a girl that's and 8 and get ignored by her mom. Then her mom realizes she's gone and she sell herself it seems because the one she did it with then lift up he's phone and it says Wife on the display and its not the mom on the display so it can't be her dad getting that. The next time she's shows up she's about 15. Then she walk to her dad and hes a alcoholic and drunk and start pushing her and hit her. Then it looks like he unzip his pants and start holding her but she run away. He was probably going to rape her because the lyrics say "I'm not coming home to you i won't sleep with the devil" wich should show that she was about to get raped and has been before, probably since she was a kid.
Actually, the story is about a man who is betrayed by his wife. When he discovers that, he burns his house to the ground to kill her and her lover. Then he escapes and kills himself.

In this song, he finds out about the "love affair" between his wife and his friend.

The album was arranged for better flow. The story starts with Vices(He finds out his wife is cheating), then goes to American Dream (Him reflecting on it), to I knew I Couldn't Trust You (he learns that his best friend is his wife's lover and confronts him), to We Are Not the World (his wife convinces the court to give her the house and full custody of their daughter), to I Am The Arsonist (he burns down his old house with his wife and 6-year-old daughter still inside), to A Great Fire (he regrets trying to kill his them and...

The End is a recap of the story.
haha thank you both for answering my question that i didnt have to ask =) this song is one of my favorites on the CD. The title alone is brilliant.. arent we all a victim of one vice or another, but the best lines i think "I'm not coming home tonight, i'd rather sleep on the street. Im not coming home to you, I WONT SLEEP WITH THE DEVIL"
its something i couldnt put into words my self but wish i could, because when i heard it i knew it was perfect. someone is obviously poisenous to your happiness and well being because they are destroying your trust and love. this girl is so obviously cheating on him, and hes finally starting to deal with that realization wich hes possibly been avoiding all along. hes gonna cope by drinking and trying to forget her... but he wins in the end just because he'd rahter sleep on the streets than go home to her. shes a life ruiner.
It's so rad that the Cancer Bats guy is on this song
They're at a hotel cos their house burnt down
wow this song's amazing and feels really relevent to me especially the first few lines hearing your girlfriend speak to someone else like they used to speak to you is one of the worst feelings ever, gets worse when they try and deny it anyway lyrics are pretty self-explanatory
kick-ass song eventhough i dont agree with the way problems are solved (or rather drowned) in the refrain
This album is amazing. It's a complete story that is meant to be taken from the The Great Fire to The End. By far one of the best written albums Iv'e ever heard. The story starts with the fact that his house has burned down, and then his wife cheating on him, and then the confession that he burned down the house, and how his daughter is going to be taken away, and why he did all summed up into fourteen amazing songs of epicness. Well played Silverstein, well played.
