Hmm.. Does anyone else think that this song is about the old Mae? Not entirely, but maybe some parts of the song.
"A Melody, The Memory" is an amazing song, and I truly love it. Lyrically, it's very simple, and melodically, it's so beautiful! But the lyrics bring up some bad memories of mine. :( Either way, I think it's great.
This is what Dave said on the mae forums: "It's about how a song can take you back to 'that place' where you can recall exactly what love is and how it makes you feel."
betaLyrae I couldn't agree more. This song reminds me of their album Everglow, which I completely adore. This is probably my favorite song out of the three that have been released thus far.
This is my favorite song. Of all time. It's beautiful, but still has a good beat, you know? It's one of those songs that just sings to your soul. Mae has a habit of writing songs like that.

To me, this song is talking about life in a metaphorical way. It's comparing someone's life to a song in the terms that one memory is equal to one note in a song and as life progresses all of our memories make a "song".
Did anyone catch the reference (or maybe I'm just seeing the reference) to The Sun & The Moon from their album The Everglow?
