Q&A
Manhattan From the Sky Lyrics
Baby whatcha doin today
What are you doing later.
I don't know my way through a maze of gray skyscrapers
But I'm willing to learn.
If you want me to I'll stay just where I am
But I promise to follow when I land.
And you can take my word
For that
You are my Manhattan from the sky
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high,
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside.
And I wanna come down and walk around your mind.
Daisies
Once upon an old daydream,
That's what you gave me.
Out on the corner of Broadway and 48th Street,
On a rainy afternoon
I could start discovering your world
And I would make a damn good city girl.
Things would start to bloom,
I'm sure
You are my Manhattan from the sky.
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high,
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside.
And I wanna come down and walk around your mind.
I know you want me to see don't lie to me
Why you gotta go be so shy to me?
I ain't buyin the false anxiety
let your fortress fall
What is it gonna take to get you there?
If fear was money you'd be a millionaire
Or all alone in a leather swivel chair
counting stacks of gold.
You are my Manhattan from the sky.
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high,
But I know your streets are lines with a fine mess inside.
And I wanna come down and walk around
You are my Manhattan from the sky.
You look so neat and tidy when I'm way up high,
But I know your streets are lined with a fine mess inside.
And I wanna come down and walk around your mind.

Here's what Kate had to say about the song---"I was sitting in the window seat...and looking down and it was this beautiful clear day and you could see the little island of Manhattan and it was so like just this little like a Lego piece and it was just really cool to me and it kind of occurred to me that there was such a difference between what Manhattan looks like from the window of a plane compared to what it looks like when you're in the middle of Time Square with all the lights and the cabs and the people and the crazy rush of the city. And that sort of contrast reminded me of what its like when you really want to get to know somebody new and you're totally intrigued by them they seem really interesting but on the outside they look all neat and tidy. But then you know once you get to know them you'll know all their little quirks, everything kinda that gets to them, what they love and who they hate. And there's so much to get to know about people and there's such a difference between the two. So there's kinda that parallel so that's sort of like the metaphor that inspired this song."

I'm not really 100% on what the song means but here's what I got.... she knows that even though he looks like he's all together that he really does have some issues. Seems like trust issues from what I can tell. But she still wants to know him, even though he's not as perfect as he might seem. But idk if that's right.
I can't wait for her album to come out!
I love this song!!! its about how she likes someone for his looks, but she knows that looks arent everything, but she wants to get to know him. i think almost anyone can relate. =)
OTH =]
I don't really understand what this song means but its so beautiful!!!!!!!!
Hey* I will not comment mux on this song, i just wanted to say that I LOVE this song as well as all from her albums. Kate rokx! Amazing voice, powerful lyrics! I'm amazed with her! :) I'm totally a fan of hers now!
I absolutley love this song!!! Love the "Daises" verse. So what Annabeth Chase what sing Percy Jackson (if you are a Percy fan!)!!!! I am a Manhattan kinda girl (although I live Texas and have never been North of Oklahoma) so this song suits me. Love you, Kate! Keep up the good work!
I agree with ClarinetDreameron
What I've understood is that they have been getting to know each other and trust issues arise, mostly from the guy's part. Towards the bridge you would notice she's raising her voice, telling him not be shy and just to be honest and to say / express how he feels. Obviously he's afraid of rejection and is having anxiety attacks but she wishes he would just let it all go and just get to know each other and see where it takes them.
That's why I love this song ! ;)
